No, Hi8 has a better quality luminance resolution of 400 lines compared to the Video8 or VHS which have only luminance resolution of 200 / 250 lines.
try those… it would make your learning curve much quicker.
I can’t answer you on the other questions you got as I got zero knowledge on Telecine.
but on this one, I actually recommend if you are planning to go that route of de-interlace your video 1st as a separate process, to de-interlace with an external program 1st using the QTGMC + bob method (not sure how it plays well with Telecine, maybe the telecine people here can comment) and not through TVAI. export it in a “lossless” video (see screen shots)

Hi All, I worked hours yesterday to profection an Upscale quality work flow and I think I found it.
I am posting this and methods I used in order for you guys to test it and validate or dispel my finding.
that way we will know rather it’s a pattern or just a coincident (since I tested it only on 2 clips).
I need you to test the same on your SD videos and tell me if you guys also see a quality enhancement with those steps..

Hello everyone, here is my first topic on the creation of my presets under TVEAI v3.x
I worked on creating two presets in Proteus, the first for 4K Ultra HD output and the second 8K Ultra HD. Feel free to give your opinions here. I will work soon on preset for DVD to 1080p, VHS to 1080p
It works with version 3.1.4 and makes much better video quality
