How to use 2x and 4x upscaling in DaVinci Resolve OFX Plugin:
Create a new timeline that matches the desired output resolution for your video.
Set the timeline to "center crop without resizing in the Timeline Settings panel.
Apply the Enhance effect to any clips that require upscaling to the Edit panel in Resolve. (The plugin will not show scale modes in a Color node.)
Select 2x or 4x scaling, an AI model, and a parameter mode.
If your desired output resolution is not exactly 200% or 400% the size of the input video, use Resolveās transform tools to crop/fit the video to the timeline.
Known Issues
EXR/DPX Exports may lose input frame number.
Inconsistent āPreview X framesā enable status.
After installing this beta, it has messed up Proteus 4 in the main version of TVAI.
I was working on making previews with the main version CLI. I installed this beta between runs. After the install, the speed of runs doubled and the results started coming out super bad even on settings I had tried before.
Guessing it has to do with the Proteus 4 model that is available for download now. When I installed the Beta, I told it to delete old models.
Since then I have reinstalled the main version of TVAI and restarted my computer. The new Proteus 4 model is still there and is still slower and gives terrible results.
Iāve been waiting for some of the basics to get taken care of, surely these are so obvious, someone should have noted by now.
When setting a range for preview, you can set in/out and then press the magnifier and it stretches the timeline to the in/out.
It works well, but keeps losing the display. Then to reset it, you must drag the slider to anything to enable the magnifier again,
and then you can set it.
That āCustom Resolutionā option⦠seriously, you need to specify which one to āprioritizeā, just make all three available and scale
it with whatever one is manipulated.
I guess there is nothing to say here, but you went down the rabbit hole and put the āmost recent item on the timelineā
at the bottom. so, scrolls off the screen, and the double line when the current item is processing makes the 2nd item off screen.
For the grid, there was much discussion in the previous version and you finally put the option to set most recent line on top. This grid looks so convoluted with its parenting that changing that now might be difficult. Why that wasnāt recognized at the outset⦠well, I guess you had to be in the room.
Also, what happened to the thermometer? I donāt see anything moving, which I did early on in v4, but havenāt seem on in some time now.
Lastly, Iāve mentioned before, why such a short description⦠is anybody using a vertical TVAI screen, so that this space is not available?
My suggestion on the grid, is a grid for each side, why try to cram that all onto one grid. Itās not intuitive like it is. I make dozens of previews, I like to work on one side, and then when I get a good one, I switch to the other side, and try to do better. If would be far easier to have a grid each side, and we could simply select the item we like best. Oh⦠and you could put back the most recent item on top since the grid would be so much simplerā¦
So is it a model issue or a program version issue?
EDIT: I compared the new downloaded model in the BETA (I cleared my model Directory) vs. the older Model from From Jan 31st that is in my non Beta model directory and the file size is exactly the same.
@luke.roche It is partially fixed (4.2.2.1b).
here are the steps you need to do to see it.
load 2 or more videos (I loaded 4 videos), Select All (Videos) for batch settings.
set your upscaling settings you want (I selected x2) and Interlace ā Dione TV (or Iris, whatever you like).
now click on any video individually on the list, (that is not the 1st video on the list where you at when you set the batch process) and you will see it resets it to proteus 4
the problem I am having with this is I canāt export the CLI (CTRL+SHIFT+E) of each video once I set my base line export settings, as it will CLI output the Proteus model on all the videos, not the Dione TV in the command preview window (apart from the 1st video). I need those CLI Export/Preview , as I then tweak those to my needs. but I want it with the correct AI model and AI settings (each AI has different settings parameters).
After using the Crop function the Enhancement settings are gone. This issue was reported by Imo before. Also when you made a lot of previews the application becomes very sluggish/laggy. Even removing the groups of previews may take a noticeable amount of time.
Deleted last post as I made a mistake, you can export multiple files again in this release (thankfully), but the default preset is still not being applied to imported files as in the previous release (changes to āNoneā)
I am not certain how it happened. The original file got replaced with the upscaled file. Iām blaming my script. I might have unintentionally programmed it to do that if I forget to give it a new name.
