Topaz Photo AI v2.4.0

I mentioned earlier that I discovered “Done” means “move this panel out of the way of my image so I can proceed”-!

It should say “Dismiss” or “Back” or “Go away”, but once these pop-out panels are binned (hopefully), this confusing element won’t be relevant.

That’s true, but I trust that Topaz is going to add a switch to toggle the feature On/Off so you can see what the effect is.

And I can confirm what many users said about 2.3.2. The recover face filter has become practically ineffective. I can barely see the difference. Even on small images

I don’t like this new version, not one little bit, the new interface is just confusing and uneccessary and while I like the layer idea, something isn’t right… I want all the functions right there, as they were, this ‘add enhancement’ thing is a bad idea… Surely if I wanted to add another sharpen layer, I could just load the exported dng and run it again.

Also I agree with a lot of the previous comments, for one sharpen just looks messed up.

Please undo this update and go back to the previous one… I’m all for fixing bugs and improving the original features, but this looks like someone has decided to totally rewite the whole thing and consequently, they have made it confusing and either introduced a whole plethora of bugs or completely changed the way the core functions work, leading to them not working as they used to or as expected.

I just updated Topaz AI on my system. I like the prior user interface with the stacked adjustment elements on the righthand bar where I can see everything rather than having individual adjustment boxes. Is there a way to revert back to the prior interface as an option. Thanks for you help.

Here is a list of all the releases. You can pick the one you want.

Kathy, thank you for the quick reply. I hate to go backwards on updates and miss enhanced features. Is there a way that you could add in Preferences (perhaps?) a way to have the adjustment tabs as it was prior with the list of all adjustments in the sidebar? This way, for example I get to see the denoise adjustments at the same time as the sharpen adjustment instead of looking at them individually? Thank you for considering.

Your point it well taken but that would be up to actual Topaz employees and not me. I’ve moved your post here for the attention of @Lingyu

Hi
I updated my version to 2.4 and the Adjust Lighting and Balance Color a re grayed out. How can I enable them.

Yes this is since Version 2.0 came out :unamused:… Had reported this a few month ago.

The new version 2.4 seems like a fail! I dislike the new interface. The processing takes double the amount of time as before. The sharpen function is iffy as well now. Thankfully I was given the option to revert back to 2.3.2. I do not think I will ever trust a future update!

Same problem. If I open an existing feature and make changes, then decide I don’t want to keep them turning it on and off doesn’t help.

Love it! Love It! I have zero issues with the new version, works amazingly well!! Thanks Topaz!!

I don’t like the new user interface. It was better when all filters were visible at once. Now it seems I have to load each filter one at a time with each new photo.
Also, face detection still does a terrible job with hair. It makes hair worse!

Crashes every time I load a Sony RAW image *.ARW from my Sony alpha 7 IV.

Select All checkbox no longer allows all images to be processed with the same settings (at least not for enlargement).

The first image obeys settings, the rest get done on automatic regardless.

Attempting to adjust sharpen slider and/or select different sharpen models causes frequent application crashes (Windows 11, NVIDIA).

I wasnt impressed with photo Ai to beginwith. Better topaz work on improvement with the 3 separate apps. I barely use the one I have. Why would I spend more to update it?

I don’t what you have done - but the new Topaz is horrible - i set my sharpening parameters & then when the file saves - it overrides my sharpening parameters & uses what ever it wants - I do I go back to an earlier version of topaz?

Uninstall the current version 1st if rolling back. Be sure if you’re running Photo AI in any host software (Lightroom, Photoshop, ON1, DxO, etc.) that the host software is closed when you run the uninstall.

The Photo AI / Releases tab (see top of page under bold name of product and version) always has the most recent releases you can go back to. Click on the blue words in this reply to get there.

Agree with you re: “prefer to have it (aka, the settings panels) all on the one side”.
