the annoyance is understandable, i have simply learned with topaz products that you have to help yourself to save your nerves. I always switch to older versions if something important doesn’t work.
I have downgraded from V7.1 to 7.02 because of SLm flickering, but I can’t tell you if stabilization/Aliasing or moir works there because I don’t use it. I was on V5.3.6 for a long time because it’s stable and produces no variable frame rates in any cases (when you do frame interpolation), that’s the last version with the old interface and before they switched to mplayer.
What also works is installing additional a beta version, because beta can be used in parallel with the live, so when a beta works for you what you do, then you also can use it for your projects additional to the live.
The beta version to mentioned 5.3.6 above would be 5.3.5.0.b or 5.3.4.0.a.hyp.rxl which is worth a try if you use frame interpolation and use older models in general, simply because these old versions without mplayer work very reliably and never gives vfr.
