Gigapixel v8.4.1

Awesome detail! The middle picture with its blades of grass and tiny stones. Incredible detail. :slightly_smiling_face:

It gets better and better

@dakota.wixom

Thanks for the detailed explanation of Bloom in the other, locked thread!

Bloom is a different upscale product that focuses on Creative imagery like AI art.

same problem here. So I need a whole new computer now to run my subscription?

Yes, now I know. A few hours ago I read the Bloom thread with the detailed explanation.

It is not clear though what the differences are with Refine. Refine is mentioned in the article, but it wasn’t made clear. Will the Bloom models be put in Gigapixel AI also?

Bloom produces the best and most creative outputs for AI generated images, and is our most powerful creative model only available in the cloud. If you want to run creative upscaling locally or on photographs, you’ll want to use Redefine in Gigapixel. You can also own Gigapixel forever of course

Read more about Bloom here (note the community for Bloom will be in Discord though, not in the forums):

Thanks. And that’s just a portion of each image. In actual size, it’s 150.47 megapixels.

But, the details look comparable to other models.
Where should the detail come from when its not in the trainingdata.

It is disappointing that this is not part of Gigapixel AI, but is yet a separate subscription product.

Yes, AND also Gigapixel already has creative upscaling, which was setting it apart from Photo AI, but now there is yet a new product with same enhanced functionality.

If Topaz is expecting that I will upload any of my images to their servers, they must be dreaming.

New subscription also states Unlimited renders, remember the Unlimited Upgrades for Gigapixel AI and all other TopazLabs products? Where did that go?

This dead horse is coming back to life in Bloom’s Unlimited renders:)
Why are we all here

Similar happened to Gigapixel for iOS.

Previously users with an active Gigapixel account could run a stripped down model that mostly did face recovery offline/direct on the device - and this unlimited as long as your subscription was active.
For full fledged enhancements you had to/could use your accounts credits and do a cloud render.

Now in the recent „update“ (more like a drastic downgrade) offline/ on-device rendering has completely vanished.
Now the „app“ (which by that was mostly downgraded to an uploading client for cloud rendering) only allows users with an active subscription 10 renders per month - OK, here full fledged enhancements are included, so not all is bad.

What’s even worse is that, if you need more than 10 renders, you cannot use your existing credits anymore but need a fixed (weekly/monthly/yearly) extra subscription :face_with_monocle:. At least I don’t see the option for using credits or any other possibility for one time payments / payments per use anymore - which mostly renders the app useless here.

Which is sad as the app definitely had potential but now just became another Remini clone. Quite an orphaned child or even a stillbirth.

But it also shows the quite evident unfortunate general direction this software is going: constantly increasing emphasis on cloud services and slow degradation of the original apps into mere “vehicles” for those cloud services.

And while we’re at it, if I am not mistaken, GPAI used to have a split preview window that allowed for comparing the output of different models and settings. With the relatively long processing times of the AI models, that comparison view is needed more than ever before. I very often try redefine/realistic and than redefine/creative and it would be a great asset to be able to compare a crop of the results side by side, which at the moment seems impossible without doing at least one full render (which is then to be saved and compared to the preview of another model, or the same with other parameters). Or is it somewhere in the app and I have yet to find it?

Maybe they make a small one.

Did try Bloom with a bug, was disapointed by its loss of detail and the artifical output.

But its not made for real images.

Don’t kill me, i did once came up with the idea of “pay for model”, a specivic niche model (maybe) that you pay for (50€/$) thats made for perform on 15/20/25 GB GPUs, for people with special needs (real images and so on).

But you then need to buy TGAI or TPAI too to run it still.

Still not feeling good about GPAI. Here is another fail after upscaling. The .dng on the right is at 186% while the GPAI image is on the left at the displayed viewing level. This is unacceptable to say the least.

Why cloud only? The pillars of Topaz were built on local processing, Eric has stated as such many times.

Release a version that can run locally and you may get support!

Offer a large discount to current Gigapixel users, of course.

I am still unclear after reading your reply. Are you saying that the Bloom models are in or will be in Gigapixel AI with Refine for local upscaling?

Maybe be wary of comparison views ?

Perhaps I missed a note in the multitudinous Bloom marketing pitches but if you go with what’s offered in the on screen compare 4 view that takes 4 credits not one ?
Or is there a difference between “viewing” 4 comparisons and “saving” them ?
I find the whole thing with poor explanations in the general sales and individual product info pages about renewals / upgrades / new versions / direct ownership / more seats etc to be very confusing.
When or if you get to the "Managing Your Subscriptions " page the “cost of one option” is clear BUT it’s then not so easy to go back to double check what other option you might prefer.

Then there are the Pro versions and now the “Web app” versions using the same product names but having in most cases very different features and cost options - uuuggghhh !!!

Plus, a few of the sales links don’t work, some of the promoted “annual payment saving” options are exactly x12 the monthly payment and at least one annual payment is 1 penny more than x12 the monthly amount. I’m so dizzy I can’t remember whether I’ve mentioned that there are “Manual” and “Auto” options for some things - perhaps not surprisingly can’t remember which ones !!!

It’s like the past and current madness in the mobile phone options and optional packages market where you get maybe 1 or 2 or 4 or 6 choices of colour for your phone and 1,952,813 payment plan options for your calls ! (yes it’s a prime number)

Pick a payment plan -

I’ll have a shot of tequila and an espresso with my croissant please (breakfast time here)
Oh on second thoughts make each of those doubles !
Good morning world !
