Video AI won't show video preview after updating to 5.4

[If you are posting a new bug, please include the following]

  1. I updated to 5.4.0 a few days ago, and now, when I load a video into the project, all I get is a black screen in the preview area. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling fresh, updated my video drivers, changed the source video’s hard drive; nothing works. It does this for every video; MPG, MP4, MOV

I’m having the same issue. Downloaded and reinstalled 5.3.6 and it started working again.

Same here. Both original and enhanced preview windows remain black for footage that looked fine before installing 5.4. Original footage can be seen using an external viewer. I am wondering if the new SDR-HDR feature is a factor? Pretty major issue.

Thanks guys for reporting these concerns. It’s really shaping up my decision for GP & TVAi this Holiday season sales.

That said, for VAi, I’m wondering are these issues are just isolated cases to certain rigs/computers, OS, ect. settings… or whatnot or a major global scale issue.

If it isn’t isolated, you guys should be receiving more support from the community to encourage Topaz to correct these concerns ASAP (as for as I’m aware, no Topaz’s staff is around… just MIA on these reports ), especially since the Holiday festivities / sales are in the air.

Where is everybody?! Seriously?!

Yeah, I reverted back to 5.3.6. Thanks for the link to it!

Same problem here. Win 10, RTX 3070. Really annoyed.

You have a lot of problems with your system unrelated to TVAI

App crashes with ctfmon.exe, msvcrt.dll, NVIDIA Web Helper.exe

Memory leak problems with chrome.exe and resolve.exe

And lastly microsoft store is not working.

Can only suggest you fix these problems within the operating and also check
your memory timings in the bios

I think you have some version of an asus motherboard and if so your bios 6042 is
nearly 3 years old and has 3 security and system fixes since.

The team is looking into this issue as it seems there are some issues with the hardware encoding for the MPV player.

Same issue. I was hoping the latest update (5.5) would fix it but it’s still the same. Works fine in earlier versions. New features keep getting released and bugs never get fixed. Not really worth the yearly fee for upgrades if the upgrades don’t work.

v5.5 is only marketing (no corrections to ongoing issues… SMH) for a cloud service that many will shun.

Verified. The issue still remains at 5.5

Does anyone know if this will be fixed in version 6.0?

I can’t see it even listed as a known issue. Like others, I have had to revert to a previous version. I am wondering if it is worth my paying for regular updates when they don’t work

In a new quirk, Davinci Resolve 19 loads a Topaz plugin. Reverting to a working version of Topaz AI causes Resolve to crash every time on start up. So I can currently use either Resolve or Topaz

Actually it isn’t so bad. I was able to start Resolve, disable the Topaz plug-in and then revert Topaz to the last working version, allowing both apps to work.

I did try that, but it had no effect on the preview within Topaz.
