This update has bit of learning curve. It’s hard to tell the difference between previews. The auto feature no longer suggests the level of detail that can be recovered from the video. You’re left to guess and check details recovered=
How do I add two consecutive enhancement models , has this function been removed? thanks
Due to some changes in the newer AI models, we’ve had to move to up AVX2 as the minimum requirement for Video AI 4. However, we expect that the vast majority of users will not be impacted by this change as this only affects Intel CPUs released before 2014 and AMD CPUs released before 2015.
It doesn’t really do what I’d like it to however. Sure it kinda cleans it, but say for example there’s a stationary object and the scene change leaves artifacts for about 5 frames, in which on frame 6 and beyond, the details return.
So with that, it looks not great, even after processing until it gets to frame 6, which suddenly the details return.
It would be nice if there was a model that could use those frames from 6 and beyond to temporally improve frames 1-5.
Same for any scene where there’s little to no compression artifacts, but then there’s like 1 or 2 frames and it goes back to “normal” for the rest of the scene. Those 2 frames shouldn’t still look not great. They should be corrected based on the frames before/after them.
Oh I see, I thought you were asking about the render progress %.
Live Previews will be worked back into the app in a future update:
thank you for the quick reply
I suppose I can understand the need to do that but why didn’t anyone mention that prior to opening pre-orders for V4.0? Why did people just find out about that after they installed it? Somebody had to code that error into TVAI so why surprise people with it.
Going by the way Topaz just keeps running versions and never supports older versions, anyone who wants to get any use out of their remaining license must upgrade their old CPU then right? You guys aren’t going to support and fix bugs in 3.5 I assume? I don’t recall V2 ever being updated after V3 was released. So it’s not really an option to stick with V3.5 if you have an old CPU and have some license left?
So for those without an AVX2, will you be then offering refunds for the people who still have upgrade time left?
Plus reading this post from your beta tester, 4.0 seems to be working fine without an AVX2. Can a version of this be released without the forced restrictions?
The Minimum System Requirement for TVAI has mention that it require CPU
The AVX2 only affects Intel CPUs released before 2014 and AMD CPUs released before 2015.
So, if your system meet the Minimum System Requirement of TVAI, you should not be affected.
IMHO, for purely the preview region it should have been done similar to how Vegas does it, drag select a section of timeline which highlights it and automatically marks that section for looping playback.
Having to set In/Out sliders is too akin to trimming a video for final result/export, which is counter-intuitive.
4.0 doesn’t really concern me since it’s not on Linux yet, but people in this thread seem to have been caught by surprise with this AVX2 thing because they probably download releases from within Topaz or on this forum, and I haven’t seen it mentioned here. I assume that screenshot is from the Topaz website? I can’t imagine current users visit the Topaz site often.
You aren’t forced to use the side-by-side view. You can go back to single-video view by picking the middle icon from the buttons on the left (The rectangle):
Lol so it wasn’t in the first post of this thread that included the DL link?
This one is driving me nuts…
Currently not all the models are supported on Intel ARC (model support will be added week to week).
That is stated on every release. What model actually does work on ARC? As of 3.5.4 I didn’t see a single model working on ARC
Are tooltips which describe each model no longer in the GUI? I don’t use this app every day so I will need an in-app refresher from time to time about when to use which model. I can’t find the tooltips anywhere, no matter where I click or hover.
Edit: Must be a bug. Clicking on the Frame Interpolation > “AI Model” text did nothing until I first clicked on the Frame Interpolation > “Sensitivity” text. Only then did tooltips start to work. But then when I clicked on “Duplicate Frames” to see that tooltip followed again by “Sensitivity,” it would no longer let me click on “AI Model” or “Duplicate Frames” again. The “Sensitivity” tooltip just stayed onscreen. The only way out was to collapse the Frame Interpolation menu and then expand it again. Definitely a bug!
Probably just saying that so Arc users don’t feel left out lol. I still get instant errors on my A770
I’m sorry But I paid 149.00 for an update after paying over 249 for the program and this is SLOW as sheet! to be blunt! I am very disappointed very! when it does work after 2 hours of rendering it is nothing to brag about.
Yeah well I bought 2 of them and fought with them for a week because they said they “should work”, not a single video got off on Windows or Linux.
