Steve, you are not the only one. I’ve also experienced every issue you described and am on the verge of reverting to v3.
Well, but as you can see by Akilas posts this limitation seems to be set quite arbitrarily as both the Betas do work without that and even the release version does do if you circumvent the installer and do a manual install.
I received a response from tech support telling me to use another program to convert MPEG2 576i files to 576p…
NO. I want to use one program to improve the quality of MPEG2 576i files. If your program in version 3.3.9 can correctly process files of this type, it should be able to do it in every subsequent version.
Observing the comments of angry users on your forum shows that your program is very imperfect in each subsequent version. You could say that you release a new crap every week. Are there any ambitious employees at Topaz Labs who aim to solve problems, or are you focused only on profiting from selling crap?
Hi everyone.
In this version the “Stop processing” button is missing in the preview, the zoom is relative to the original and no longer to the preview.
Even though I have selected the graphics card for “AI Processor”, it uses the CPU at 100% and the graphics card at 30%.
Same. CPU at 100% and GPU in 30s.
If you use a RTX series GPU for the AI stuff do you still need AVX2, and if not can you allow it to install?
I see elsewhere someone has manually installed v4 on a non-AVX2 CPU and it seems to be working fine.
I have a non AVX2 CPU too, and may be stuck on whatever is the best v3 version, a pity as I assume the outstanding issues will not be fixed.
I tested v3 with my non-AVX2 CPU before purchase and it worked fine, I guess because I use a RTX card for the AI stuff??? Maybe that’s what others are doing who are installing v4 the hard way (extracting the files from the installer - I haven’t been tempted).
My upgrade period allows v4, but if I (and apparently a few others, I assume only a modest sample of users appear on the forum) are stuck on v3 it would be nice of they fixed a few of the annoyances, which I assume won’t happen?
My output is always image files. Are you saying the preview won’t work unless output is now video?
Also, it does sort of work as I mentioned, but only after the entire preview clip is being processed. Meaning you have to wait until whetever preview length you selected is finished to see the preview which is not original behavior.
Can someone tell me how to zoom in and out on the timeline? I reported that issue already but no one responded so far and I am still stuck with a useless timeline bar.
There is a slider between preview n.1 and timeline bar, near the magnifying glass.
Bug: Cannot use all 4 GPUs, an error is produced, worked on first run until I fiddled with TopazAI’s v4’s preference settings.
Using an Intel MacPro with 4 GPUs installed. Up to now could and did process a video with all GPUs selected. On using v4.0.0 the first test run worked, all GPUs used ok. Preferences was set on auto. I then changed it to ‘all GPUs’. Since then processing a preview of a video will produce an error. Auto now selects just one cpu and one gpu (not the 4 when first using the app). Now, when processing a video for preview using ‘All GPUs’ error is give on starting processing.
Edit additional info: Returning to v3.4.0 setting use All GPUs works as expected. Returning to v4.0.0 using Auto works (like first time) with 4 GPUs being used together.

I’m finding the preview very buggy - it firstly plays the small bit of preview I made, but really slowly, not at realtime & it jumps between 100% scale which I’ve set and another scale. Then it goes onto the non-preview bit. Or sometimes it’s just not working at all & hitting preview does nothing. Overall much less useable that v3.5
I’m also finding the side by side system isn’t working that great - it’s really easy for the settings to change on one of them to be like the other even without meaning to. I’m having to restart the app to get previews working at all sometimes. Plus I really miss the lovely feature in the original VEAI, where you could hit a button or use a shortcut to show the original underneath.
I do feel sorry for the devs, because 3.5 was a nice app with a lot of improvements and new models in the year. That should have been v4 really and it seems they’ve been rushed into this.

Thanks for that. Another terrible UI design. I tried evrything I could think of - an unlabelled microscopic bar was not something I even saw.
I am still making my mind up on this release but I think it’s going into the right direction. Thank you!
When it’s possible to have 2 preview windows to switch between now, why not adding no 3 and 4 (like in version 2.x) as an option for those who like it?
This is not working!
First:
It’s not possible to play this Region in a LOOP!
Second:
It’s such a hassle to have to set the In- and OUT-Point for the 2 seconds Preview every time!
What is that supposed to do?
How can you screw up a User Interface like that??? Before everything was much clearer and more intuitive! It’s a big Step backwards, like everything from Topaz in the Last Time
Thanks for backup up my comment.
The fix was sort of there. Videos still started off with 2-4 (depending on if you went x2 or x4) duplicate frames but the rest was good.
Video with 15fps in my case now have 1 dupe every 4 frames in the entire video
I find the same. And as a preview is processing, it will stop when I hit the play button. So then I have to start all over again. Back to 3.5 for now.
Would it work on Older CPU the new AIs but results would be different (or speed not optimized, etc.) compared to newer CPUs or the AI would fail all together?
I am asking this because I have an older CPU and I upgraded the v4 manually. so far I used the new AIs in v4 and it processed the videos. So i was wondering rather it yields not the greatest results because of the old CPU or if it worked, then it’s fine, if the lack of AVX2 CPU was an issue then it would just fail?
Is it now possible with the new IN/OUT function to dedicate different enhancements to different scences within ONE video file?
I asked for this function some time ago, cause I would use different enhancements settings within one video file for e.g. day footage and separate for noisy low light footage.
Next Problem:
The Preview Picture don’t match with the Original-Picture, if I switch between Original and Preview it shows different Frames…
