Topaz Video AI v3.3.6 - v3.3.8

??? What did you want to put?

@ida.topazlabs it looks like there is still a glitch with Preview on v3.3.8, if deinterlacing and using Iris model itā€™s getting stuck at 100% then takes 1-2 mins to complete the file. this delay was not there prior to v3.3.4 and does not occur with Progressive videos.

Steps to recreate the issue:

  1. Load an interlaced video
  2. Set the upscale resolution and choose deinterlace
  3. Choose Iris AI or Dione TV
  4. Move to any frame other than the first frame and click preview

I hit the wrong reply regarding a preview glitch, I just reposted.

Ha ok. No problem hahaha

What version of VEAI do you have?
I still have the tools in question.

mikmod1 refers to a ā€œspecialā€ situation. Depending on the desktop resolution, there are cases where the tooltip with the filename (which appears when you hover the mouse over the input file) covers the trim and crop buttons. I thinkā€¦

Iā€™d be very curious. In that case, youā€™d need to know the resolution of his screen.

Unfortunately, I went back to version 3.3.5, but last night when I was still on 3.3.8, I tried to reproduce the ā€œbug.ā€ And on full HD resolution, I was able to reproduce it.

Ha ok. Me, I couldnā€™t reproduce it, however, because I donā€™t have the bug.

Anybody else experiencing slow encoding of the previews in 3.3.8?
Previously it was almost instant. Now whenever I preview a chunk when its on 100% it still takes a least half a minute (depending on the length of the preview) for it to finish

To help you out, yes indeed, I have also this issue and compared it with the 2 previous versions, it takes around 50% more time for a preview.

Figured I would mention that the side-by-side is still 1+ frames off from each other.

Mac Studio M2 Ultra with 60-core GPU, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB Internal SSD.

RAM usage is on default 100.

If you are referring to which Video AI Model, any model will not display a Preview.

Yes, I have the same: preview frame doesnā€™t exactly match the source time point.

Thatā€™s the same model I have (except for only 1TB SDD here). Previews are there with RAM set to 10% and 100%ā€¦

What resolution are you working with (as I nearly only do SD ā†’ FHD upscales)?

Yes i posted the same issue 5hrs ago, see above. I can confirm the issue exist with Preview

SD to HD or SD to 4K. Sometimes HD to 4K. No video I try, including videos that has previously worked on Intel iMac 2020, will display Previews. It can process the video, but Previews always produce Error message.

Hmm, Iā€™m mostly using the V3.3.2 as Iā€™m doing mostly Interlaced DVD footage ATM and in the newer versions Iris deinterlace lacked the Recover original detail slider - but still Iā€™ve just tried the 3.3.6b2 and do get a previewā€¦

Here are screen recordings of working previews here with the V3.3.2 and the 3.3.6b2:
ScreenRecord.zip (3.6 MB)

Be aware though that with RAM set to 100% the previews will take quite forever to actually start as there is a longer standing bug where Topaz will first fill up all RAM and then the same amount of swap space on the disk before starting the actual upscale.
Plus, speed for SD upscales is (sometimes quite dramatically) faster on AppleSilicon when you set the RAM to 10% so this is what I have here.

Now the encode of a 35min video that is done rendering after 3h is taking 3 hour to encode. What is going on?

Either the lower progress bar is broken cus that shows: 0s 4,6fps 100% for about 3 hours now. But the preview bar (blue progress) shows around 75%
