Topaz Video AI v3.3.4

The upgrade fails to save on my iMac. Worked fine before upgrade. After sharpening, it starts “saving” which I don’t remember it doing before. It only processed. Anyway, it is now useless to me.

ok. Well, it’s always good to have the preview in real time during the calculation. It allows you to better manage the best quality setting without having to wait each time the calculation finishes to look at the previeuw.
And for the auto preview, yeah I know that. But I showed it anyway to make it clear that it had nothing to do with the bug in question .

Yes. I tried. And it’s the same thing. Whether I drag and drop or import from an AI video, the bug is always the same. Even if I move the image sequence folder to another location, it’s the same thing. Ditto if I start at frame 0001. This is a real problem, as I wanted to import my 300-frame sequence to double its value in order to go from a 30 fps video to a 60 fps video without any loss of quality.

Totally agree. And it has worked flawlessly before 3.3.4
It’s weird that these bugs come up all of a sudden on minor app functionality updates.

Your image sequence bug seems to be an isolated problem. I myself have no issue with that whatsoever…
Care to share the rig specs? Maybe I could have some input…
Two find come to mind to maybe troubleshoot this:

  1. Have you tried under a different profile?
  2. Uninstall and clean wipe all registry strings that TVEAI created (revo uninstaller) then reinstall and try without changing anything in the config. If that works try 1 setting at a time… ie. default preset

I had issues with default preset enabled in config that caused my videos to not load onto the screen. They only popped up in the input section. Couldn’t slide the arrow or anything. Disabled the default preset and then it worked again. Deleted all presets and made new ones…

I had already tried to uninstall the software with Revo-Uninstaller to remove all possible residues. I then searched the registry to clean all remaining traces of the software. I then rebooted the machine and reinstalled the software. So I hadn’t yet re-imported my presets. I tried to import a sequence of images. But once again, the same bug problem occurred. So my presets had nothing to do with it.

Hi you fixed another issue I had where nothing was happening while trying to start the application. Normal uninstalling didn’t work but I used revo uninstall (free portable version) and it worked afterwards.

Thanks

Also, in order to prove that there was indeed a software bug, I had also tested on a Windows 10 22H2 virtual machine as on my physical machine with the same CPU is all. On this virtual machine, there had never been any Topaz software installed. I tested video AI on it and got exactly the same bugs.

Does anyone have benchmark tests of 3.2.6 v and 3.3.4 ? It seems to me that upscale performance has dropped by 5-8% + -

Yes the preview is not working, whether you have the auto-play preview on or off.

Happy to help pal

Hello, do anyone can help me why I always get error “Error” when it process when Exporting ? I click to it but I don’t see any error information

This is my log:

2023-07-16-00-13-29-Main.tzlog (200.6 KB)

Thanks!

I’ve also noticed another annoyance: when exporting image sequences, I no longer have a preview on the right. Whereas before 3.3.x it worked.

Can you post the file? I’ll give it a try cus the settings are a bit odd to be honest

What do you mean by a bit odd?

But here’s the file:

What framerate have you set to interpolate? 30fps to? 60? And why such a high threshold on the duplicate frames? Thats really aggressive! The video is non conventional I guess. But 50 sensitivity will swallow up real frames think. Have you tested it before was it impossible?

Oh and there’s something really weird going on that system of yours. On mine it works perfectly fine:

I set a value of 50 to test. But yes, it was 30 fps to 60 fps. But honestly, I don’t really know what would be the right value to add for sensitivity.

It’s also curious that it works so well on your machine. Have you also tried exporting it? For me, even when exporting (in image sequence) I also have the problem that I no longer have a preview on the right.
But if it was my system at fault then why on a virtual machine do I also have the same problem?
So how old is your machine? Mine is from 2019. With an RTX 3070 replaced last August because the previous 2080 burned out.

I have an MSI “MPG-Z390-GAMING-PRO-CARBON” motherboard with an Intel I9 9900K CPU. 32GB ram and the 8GB RTX 3070. My AI video installation is on a 2TB SSD disk named “D” and the models are on the disk named “E” also SSD and also 2TB. I only have 500 GB internally on my M2. But I have the impression that the bugs I’m encountering have been there since 3.3.0 or 3.3.1. I think it works fine on earlier versions (3.2.x up to and including 3.2.9) and of course no problems on earlier versions up to 2.6.4 and even the first versions of v3.

Further proof of a bug in version 3.3.x
I’ve just retested version 3.2.9 on my virtual machine. As shown in the screenshot, I was able to import an image sequence without any problem. And the preview works perfectly.

I’m now going to test 3.3.0 to see if the bugs started from there or not.
I’ll tell you what after my test.

Well theres nothing wrong with your specs thats for sure.

My rig is from 2020.
Intel® Xeon® W-2195 Processor
256GB RAM
ASUS Pro WS C621-64L SAGE
2x TITAN RTX
8TB Samsung NVME SSD’s

But you rig is more than capable. This issue is all Windows i’m quite sure. Cus its an isolated thing. Not like the preview bug in 3.3.4 or the update bug that a lot of people have.

As for the dupes sensitivity 50 would for sure swallow up frames. I checked and with normal 1.5 in RIFE there are 20% dupes. So I guess the real frame rate would be around 25fps. You can set it to 15-20 and then just try what looks good. Take around 20 seconds of preview en output it and play with an external player. After you have a video file that came out of TVEAI try Neatvideo and load it up. It will tell you straight away if there are still dupes…

I saw your latest post about a you being able to load the video in 3.2.9. This does not mean there’s a real bug in TVEAI. The newer version has some new code that your Windows is having issues with. I’m on Windows 10 not ever updated to the newest version I think.

The only troubleshooting solution to your problem would be a new fresh test install of Windows on your rig. Not in VM

ok. I have my answer. Up to 3.2.9, no problem importing image sequences, but from 3.3.0 onwards, video Ai crashes when importing the same image sequence.

So the problem is not with my machine. It’s the software. Since 3.3.0, there’s something that prevents me from importing image sequences on my machine, and from having a preview if I want to export an image sequence. And strangely enough, nobody knows how to explain the problem or fix it, because they don’t have the problem.

Are you on Windows 10 or Windows 11?
Because why have the bugs I’m explaining only appeared since 3.3.0? When everything works flawlessly in 3.2.9?

I’m on Windows 10 22H2 with the latest cumulative and driver updates.
