That may be, but the same sentence also states that it is required. I suspect 8.9 is a typo given that the GTX 10 and Quadro P series are listed as examples of unsupported cards.

Both those series are way below 8.9.

Basically, what they’re saying is that anything earlier than an Ada generation card is going to be a crapshoot.

Original —> SLP (mínimum 1280x720p) —> Nyx XL (scaling to 1920x1080p) —> SLP (scaling to 4K)

Very interesting thanks.

Can anyone answer pls?
”Precise 2.5. it’s Astra 2, yes?”

I don’t think so. I think Astra 2 is specifically their model for enhancing AI-generated videos.
Precise is more for restoring old potato footage.

No, it’s not. Starlight Precise 2.5 is the new Starlight model.

Starlight Precise was an option in the Astra web app before they put it in the desktop app.

Crappy 960p - 1080p. 75% opacity on SLP layer.

Crappy 960p - 1080p. 100% opacity on SLP layer.

This was actually done in the Cloud version of Precise 2.5. But same basic model. Will be interested to see how it compares to desktop.

Had the same problem, that Precise 2.5 worked but Mini not. Seems that he only downloaded the Precise but not the Mini model. When I switch to the mini Model he dosn’t make a system check and assume the model was downloaded. But it wasn’t. For all other models he open the systemcheck.

I renamed the models folders so I was able to download the mini model and copy them back into one folder. So It seems now I can use both models.

Yes, this is a known issue with incomplete model downloads that Topaz sometimes has. The download happens using ZIP files, and there may be a partially downloaded ZIP file in the model folder but with final size informations, which makes Topaz think the download was completed, but Zip is corrupted.

When downloading, don’t interrupt the process. Leave the window open—even if it shows 100%—until text prompt says you download is completed.

Now you can either find and delete the problematic file in the model folder and delete it, or simply rename/delete the entire model folder, but after that, you’ll need to download all models again.

In this version, all the Starlight models, including Precise, error out even before attempting to process. The last version worked perfectly fine.

Truly great stuff, Topaz!

So what is the best settings when doing a 480p video use SM first to 1080p or 720p then use SP to 1080p?

No Astra 2 is only within Astra and is the creative generative AI model.

Starlight Precise 2.5 is the new variant based on the original Starlight Precise that was only available in Astra but has not been updated enough to be run locally for users in the Desktop.

Alan, can you share where you are seeing mentions that are not matching? Just looked at the System Requirements for Topaz Video page and the top of the thread, and the Starlight Precise 2.5 page and seeing all of them mention 8.9.

If we have it posted as otherwise somewhere else, I want to get that addressed and updated.

Just to chime in, the System Requirements for Topaz Video page lists it as a minimum requirement for NVIDIA GPUs. However, the Starlight Precise 2.5 page states it is ‘targeted for GPU compute capability 8.9’ and adds that ‘this is also the recommendation.’ This raises the question, is it a strict requirement or merely a recommendation? And if it’s just a recommendation, what is the actual minimum requirement then?"

8.9 only applies to 40-series cards and up, but users are reporting it works on 30-series cards, specifically the 3090 which is 8.6.

Kyle, what happens if you’re below 8.9? Does Precise 2.5 fail a system test and refuse to run, try to run but error out a lot, or run but at an incredibly and uselessly slow fps?
