If you own the perpetual license to Topaz Video AI you can continue to use the product but it will only receive maintenance updates. New AI models and features will go to Topaz Video (studio). The good news is if you still have an active license you should be able to download and use Topaz Video (studio) for the length of your license. After that it will be a standard subscription.
We’re working on optimizing Starlight for Windows NVIDIA - the optimized version didn’t yet make our quality cut during Beta.
LOL! Please bear with us, our poor servers are struggling already. We’re rolling this out slowly to prevent service disruptions due to volumes.
Seems that you do have a legacy license here good sir - you should be able to access the Starlight models as a Founder as long as you maintain an active license.
Right, Founder status is not a Pro license but it does give you access to those Pro models indeed.
Paging the legendary @erasmo.topazlabs
he’s run some similar processes here and can provide recommendations
Awesome! Glad you love it! We’ve hand-tuned Starlight Sharp here to get the best results possible. It also currently runs faster than Starlight (mini) in fact
No - in fact Intel macs are no longer supported. Apple has discontinued support for them as well.
AMD here is referring to Windows device + AMD GPU
The Studio product does not currently support offline authorization, although I’m taking note here. Currently this would be available for Enterprise customers only through a custom build.
I’m not quite sure what you mean here. To be clear, I can go online to authorise the product periodically, once a month for example. But once it is authorised I then need to be able to go offline for a few weeks. Is that currently possible?
Thanks, and for more context, these are home video recordings I’m cleaning up. So plenty of out of focus shots that I would rather not have create a bunch of artifacts running through a model, and lots of shaky cam
Currently we require authorization upon app launch in the Studio Version, and it can be used offline for up to 6 hours.
Is there any reason it needs to be so restrictive? Because I’m afraid that is nowhere near enough for me. I would have to simply stop using Topaz entirely.
I need at least a week where I can be offline, and I don’t really see how it helps you to require it more often? Surely checking in once or twice per month still stops piracy or using too many ‘seats’? The legacy products did this, why can’t Studio?
Finally the export preview has been updated so that it loops continuously. This is awesome. I often test very short clips just to check quality, so looping automatically is very important.
Credit to @erasmo.topazlabs on this one, too! ![]()
I see. There’s been some major changes to our auth system, I’ll have to look deeper into this. But right now that’s the setup for launch.
Thank you.
Please consider that users like me have supported your company, despite honestly feeling like we’re paying to be a beta testers most of the time, with bug after bug. I’m still very concerned by how buggy the ‘legacy’ products still are and whether fixes for them will become even less of a priority now.
On top of that we paid for our subs on the understanding that we’d get proper upgrades for the legacy products throughout that period, which you’ve now gone back on.
It would be a final kick in the teeth to then be unable to use Topaz at all going forward, despite the fact that the old auth system worked fine.
Please change the offline launch/use window asap to something more usable, for a trip offshore for example, so users like me can continue to be customers.
Thank you for that confirmation.
However - please can you also confirm - or refute - that the CLI is now ONLY allowed with the Pro licence? For me, and I suspect many others, the CLI is of far more use than the Starlight model. If you now confirm that is no longer allowed in Topaz Video with a personal licence, then that is a MAJOR issue - for which I cannot forgive Topaz. And in which case I won’t be renewing ANY licences with Topaz and will instead be looking elsewhere.
I should add that the reason I’m concerned and confused about the CLI use is that the UI STILL provides access to the CLI features, even though surely it “knows” I don’t have a Pro licence. So it appears at odds with the EULA.
I figured as much, just wanted to poke a little, lol
