Topaz Photo v1.0.1

I just installed TP…. it downloaded so much after the install that my free space went from 40gb to 4.6. What the hell?

When I check control panel/programs, it only lists TP as 1.43gb. Where did all those files it spent nearly an hour downloading go to? I cannot seem to find them

Edit: I found them…. but why the hell does this program take so much space? I only need to use the equivalent of photoAI. I dont need all the other fluf. Not to mention space is at a premium on my computer. I find myself now with 1.81gb free, while I had 40 before. I don’t have a large HD for c:

can anything be done to not have so much to download?

I did not try Mosaic yet, did it see on Social Media only, but will it make its way on to desktop?

I don’t line the idea to process customer images anywhere in the world.

The new Topaz Photo needs 50GB of disk space, Photo AI needed 32Gb. The new Topaz Photo has new generative models, stable diffusion models that take up a lot of disk space. Make sure to uninstall the older Photo Ai to free up space, as the app also needs 5GB of free unused space once installed for temp files. A in-app warning will appear if the disk space is lower then 5GB. The models are in a hidden folder cammed ProgramData, which you can unhide in your view settings.

AI models to process locally take up space. We have web apps if you prefer to use web based apps that do not install models locally!

Mosaic is a restoring app that will remain a web based app at the moment. There is no plan to bring Colorize to desktop apps at the moment, but its other features such as sharpening and removal of dust and scratches is possible in Topaz Photo and Gigapixel will have recovery enhancements as well, ti use locally.

I was still using v2 of PhotoAI. One of the last versions that would not crash when doing batch editing. I recall in V3, after 40 or 50 photos in a batch it would crash. Subsequent versions never fixed that problem, so I went back to v2. When I edit 1000s of photos at a time, having the app crash every 40-50 is not something I want to deal with. That version only took about 9gb. So it was quite a shock for the 50gb install. Considering my HD is only 256gb. I wish there would be a way to install the models on another drive. My D: has much more space.

One thing I have been hoping for, but have not checked yet is making changes to multiple files at once. So if I want the program to use Standard instead of strong, as it currently stands I have to do each photo one at a time. Which is a major pain if I have to do tons of photos. It would be nice to be able to select the model I want for one photo and copy the settings to multiple.

@imajica - We would need to see at support@topazlabs.com your System Profile and logs to know what could be causing the crashes. Steps to gather these here. Version 2 had no generative models, and if this fits your needs, you can still use it. However, generative models take up space.

Batch processing is possible, steps here, however, it needs a system that meets the minimum requirements, we can know more once you send us your system information on the support email!

A post was split to a new topic: Mosaic results

The last update was released six weeks ago. Since then, there’s been silence. I can’t imagine that version 1.0.1 is completely bug-free. What’s the status and plan for bug fixes and further development?

For near future, we are working on a mix of issues fixes by priority of affected users, as well as working on releasing new models (1 already in beta for a few weeks and more to come), as well as working on Mac Intel Support for Studio apps. You will see an in-app mention once releases/updates are ready.

I have found that cloud processing often hangs and even after over an hour it never ends. Sometimes it does work though. It is totally hit and miss. Over the past week or so I have used Super focus on photos that were 12mp to 24mp and out of my 4 attempts to use cloud processing over that week 2 never ended so I finally had to cancel them and 2 worked.

Here is where it hangs when it doesn’t work.

The development team is aware and has gathered logs of users when attempts fail and are looking into getting more consistent cloud behavior. You can test smaller images and also test with no other enhancements and only Super Focus in the stack, which can help.

In all 4 cases Super focus was the only enhancement. For small images I can do local processing. It is for somewhat larger images that cloud processing would be useful. If it would reliably work, that is.

Thanks for the confirmation! We do have a open ticket for generative models not being consistent on larger files, I will add your contact information on it. Thanks for flagging!

Hello
When will the new version be released??
This version has a problem with Photoshop, meaning that presets and models in Photoshop do not run automatically
And must be done manually
Please fix and update

Hi,

A few questions:

  • Which OS are you working with?
  • Which version of Ps are you working with?
  • Are you using Photo 1.0.1 via the File > Automate menu in Ps?
  • Do you have your Photo set up to run using AutoPilot and it’s not running automatically? Can you describe the steps you follow that don’t produce the bhvr you expect? [I’m a user, not TL staff, but I imagine that info would help them troubleshoot too… I am someone who only uses TL products as plugins w/in Ps. I’m still on Ps 2025…I usually wait a few wks after the annual updates for others to rpt and Adobe to get the :bug: :beetle: :cricket: out of the new annual rel.]

Fotomakers reply is great and will help know a bit more. I have also asked some questions on the email you sent to Support, make sure to reply so we can know the issue you are having! We are not tracking any issues with presets of Auto-Pilot in new Photoshop update, and once we have more information we can help you get back to the usual behavior!

One thing I didn’t ask is whether the user is working with Ps beta… I don’t know TL’s stance, but some companies don’t guarantee usual performance in the Ps beta vs commercial releases.

not auto model wonder . standard max and plugin photoshop
