Topaz Photo AI v3.6.1-3.6.2

I know, but it’s important to keep bringing it up. Only then can there be hope that it will be resolved (at some point).

There’s a saying in Germany:
“Constant dripping wears away the stone.” (“Steter Tropfen höhlt den Stein”  )

It’s the same with Gigapixel AI. We must hope hahaha.

@marcelo.cinicola - yes, this text field issue seems to occur with foreign keyboards, the development team is looking into this! Will tag you here once resolved, added your contact info on the open development team ticket for this. Moving the sliders will work and it will show the changes on the preview. The issue is just in the text field!

@axel.matthies - The behavior for both v1 and v2 is the same, no matter the selection you make, the whole image will be processed. This allows for tweaking the selection once the Super Focus is rendered, without needed to re-render. The workflow changed in v2 and any Custom additions and the brush will be in a panel available only after the processing is done!

For the logo, yes, as Harald mentioned, the development team is aware and looking if can change this. You won’t have to look at this window, it’s only to let you know it’s locking PS. You would be in Photo AI and not in PS as soon as Photo AI opens!

As you mention whole image will be processed even subject is selected ,well i tested few images selecting subject only. and it rendered only subject not whole image on my M1 mac studio.

@jayesh.topiwala - Yes that is correct. It will display the Subject that you selected and output this selection when you export, but the whole image is still processed in the backgground, allowing you to tweak the selection once the render is done, whether you are in v1 or v2. In v2, the editing steps were changed to allow for custom selections to be made after the process is done. This will not change the render time, only need to get used to this new v2 workflow where any custom selection now have to be made after the render is made  Ths workflow steps are here (See step #7 in v2 steps to fine tune selection) - Super Focus | Topaz Photo AI

In English we have a saying that has a sort of similar meaning:

“The squeaky wheel gets the grease.”

Many thanks. English isn’t my mother tongue and I like to hear proverbs from other languages .

Ok, but I don’t find the brush, only the predefined masks like Sky and so on. I’ll check again if I oversee something.

Yes, it’s just a cosmetic defect, but IT IS an error. And this error should be corrected very easily.
For me it is incomprehensible why the problem has not been resolved long ago

Thank you Angie, standing by then! :beers:

Then have fun, it’s neither English nor German in origin:

It seems your right when you say the selection would be done after Super Focus has rendered. That show the render times that I’ve seen after testing rendering without and with a subject selection.

And I also found a possibility to use the brush with Super Focus. But It is inconsistent and very confusing. In the list of the selection in the Super Focus view (where the preview is generated and I start rendering) there’s no “Custom” entry.

If I go to the Super Focus settings in the enhancement view under the thumbnail there’s a Custom selection.

Either the “Custom” option is displayed everywhere, or you the selection list is been deleted where I configure the Super focus render options.

With their current workflow, there doesn’t seem to be any point in having post-process settings available pre-process. Maybe leaving some note that further adjustments are to be made post-process will be useful to those accustomed to having a dropdown here, at least for a version or two.

@axel.matthies and @david.horita - The mention that the availibility to tweak a selection is available after the render is here in-app,

it is also in the docs and also mentioned in Dakota’s releases notes in the launch of the tool in v3.6.0. Let us know where you would like it added furthermore and I can mark as feature request!

I’m just saying that if you remove a pulldown for 3.6.3 everyone who is used to it will be asking where it is.

The main point is that since these post-process settings don’t appear to actually do anything pre-process, they shouldn’t be in the pre-process screen.

@david.horita

When you mention this, this would be incorrect: “The main point is that since these post-process settings don’t appear to actually do anything pre-process, they shouldn’t be in the pre-process screen.”

  • They do if the selection that needs a focus is one of the default pull down ones: Subject, Sky, etc. If you select this ahead, then yes after the render will show this selection only. Then you can tweak your selection after the render is made! If you have a specific custom selection needed, best to stay on All in the pre process, then do your custom selection after. This is the new elaborated workflow of v2 and I’ve passed your feedback to the development team.

Yes and no.

If you like to keep this selection list in the window for the pre process settings you should add the “Custom” entry to this list.

At the moment both lists are inconsistent!!! If wrote this in my post

I passed the feedback to the development team. The mention above the list in post says that any changes will be after processing, this includes Custom

Hi, I am a bit confused. Are we forced to use Super Focus in the cloud (and buy credits)? Or can we also choose to render locally (I don’t mind waiting a bit). I cannot find an option to choose to render locally?
Am I overlooking something?
