Topaz Photo AI v2.3.1

Hi, here are my specs:

OS: Windows 11 pro 23H2
RAM: 64 GB
GPU: Radeon RX580 8GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU Driver: Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 (latest available)

Tom, I can’t answer your question as I almost NEVER plunge into MOST of the ā€˜brains’ on my computer……don’t know if that ā€˜number’ is the result of a ā€˜computer reset’ my tech did, but I don’t believe he’s done any work on my computer, other than the ā€˜reset’ while he was here. And NOW there are 2 TOPAZ updates that I cannot yet get as there was NO UNINSTALL file/folder found on my computer for TOPAZ GIGALIXEL (sorry forgot to say WHICH TOPAZ!) to do it’s ā€˜automatic’ thing!!! Is the ā€œ6-2023ā€ date a good or bad thing for that GPU driver?? My ā€˜computer guy’ will be here tomorrow to help…BUT my PHOTO AI 2.3.3 STILL freezes when recognizing faces!!! NO FACE and it runs FINE!!!

Thanks, Suzanne

The driver is very old already, there where some updates adressing some problems in the last 7 month.

When you download the driver from the nvidia website, get the studio driver, not the game ready one.

didn’t you get the point?

you HAVE TO close the program EVERY TIME. you already agreed to install/dowload the update ¬3-4 times.

maybe it should just close (and download) automatically, or having an option to do so… instead of asking a 6th time?

and u call urself ā€œbeta testerā€??

lol

???
So, then tell which (windows) programs don’t have that dialogue every time you install a new update…

Thats a normal procedere.

Its more worse when you are inside the PS plugin.

You then have to close PS too.

this is not a ā€œwindowsā€ thing.

no wonder we have do deal with having to ā€œapproveā€ the update ~6 REDUNDANT times over, with this level of ā€œbeta testersā€.

just stop posting, dude. just stop.

Maybe you’d better calm down a bit - and post something with at least a touch of substance instead of merely rude aggressiveness.

You still didn’t tell us one example where this update process runs as you expect it to…

Sadly I won’t be upgrading at $199 - that’s too much for an amateur photographer - I do like Tpoaz AI, but only need to use it as part of my workflow around 10% of the time. As a loyal user I’m very disappointed you’ve priced me out :frowning:

Ā  Try dowloading the installer for the last version of PhotoĀ AI that you tried to install. If you run that, then it should give you an option to uninstall the program. Do that, and then you can install a clean instance of an older version.

Ā  That’s what I had to do to go back to 2.3.0 when 2.3.1 wasn’t working for me.

Indeed! Tis true.

Both to install or uninstall.

Alan,

I’m not a rep or staff of Topaz. But it sounds like you own a Topaz product already.

Gee, isn’t it less than that to renew your license vs being a new user?

Is that what shows as the renewal price on your personal acct page?

Some of the folks in this forum (not me) are affiliates who offer promo discount codes. But I suspect those promos are nominal…

I hope you can find a price break. Super Bowl sale or something… Good luck.

I also submitted this question to Topaz and Lingyu Kong sent me this good, interesting, informative response:

Thanks for reaching out and great question. The Autopilot currently detects settings at the beginning. If you enable filters that were not recommended it does not alter the settings to accommodate for that. This is an artifact from the previous applications where you would use one at a time.

Now that these filters are stacked, we need to update the Autopilot to address this. That would involve adjusting Minor Denoise and Minor Deblur sliders if another filter that affects the same area is used.

I am hoping to change this Autopilot behavior soon. We have a large update coming which will allow us to make these types of updates easily. The current application will be more difficult to make this change in.

Must be only an issue for you … for me the process is:

  • Click on Download Update
  • Click on Install
  • Click on question warning that the app will be closed, save any open images if you like, only have to close the program once
  • Click on OS install & UACC control

And you call yourself a … what? Just whingeing are we, nothing else to do?

I’m running topaz Photo AI version 2.3.0 and trying to install the most recent update but I can’t get it to run. I select the ā€œupdates availableā€ option then the ā€œinstallā€ option but the app just closes and nothing happens. Have tried several times. Not sure how to resolve.

You might want to use installers from this Product Releases thread vs in app, as a regular practice.

But, also, you might want to take a glance up the comments for this release prior to installing. Then decide what you want to do,

No need to use remove tool in TPI ,just use remove tool in photoshop fast and easy.

Face Recovery doesn’t seem to work in 2.3.1.

Every image with a face I tried to process, the autopilot gets stuck on ā€œFace Detectionā€. It never gets past that point. Autopilot gets stuck

So far in version 2.3.0 it has always worked fine. How can I go back to this version, to continue working.

This was my first contact with the product. Since the bug reported many times here (Face Detection hanging) i was not able to use the demo. So i found a thread where it is suggested to downgrade to 2.3.0 as a workaround.

Now i hava a bigger problem:

At the first install of 2.3.1 i chose a drive other than c:\ to store the program data. Topaz downloaded the models and stuff just fine there. I was also able to run some basic stuff with face detection disabled.

When downgrading to 2.3.0 no models can be loaded anymore because the install wizward of 2.3.0 seemed to remove the setting of the programData path and just uses the default path on drive c:\ which does not hold models and in addition has not enough space.

I like the idea of the product but not a good start for me :frowning:

EDIT:
I found the PAI_MODEL_DIR environment variable and set it back to where the models actually are however Topaz 2.3.0 seems to ignore that setting.

Weird
