Topaz Photo AI v2.3.0

I went through the steps to install, and it did not actually install.
Now whenever I click the Update Available button, then hit Install Update, the program quits.

It’s one thing after another with every update since the debacle of 2.1.2

I still can’t process more than 1 photo at a time without the program crashing.
Sometimes, it only takes a single file to crash.
I went from very pleased to extremely disappointed with this program

In case anyone is curious, my computer is:
MSI gaming laptop with intel i5-9300H CPU @2.40 ghz, 8 GB ram
GeForce GTX 1650 w Max-Q, driver v 512.15

I have yet to have anyone provide any suggestions on my problems

Try downloading the installer from the first post in this thread and install that.

(Windows 11) Version 2.2.2 says that there is an update available (presumably this one). I click on “Update Available” and immediately the button changes to “Install”. I click the button, Topaz Photo AI closes, then nothing happens. I check Task Manager and Topaz isn’t running and neither is Windows Installer

See AiDon’s post above yours. There have been numerous posts about the in-app update not working. it’s definitely best to use the installer from the first post.

Thank you

Latest update does not install - click update, no problem. Then click install and window closes and notbing happens. Tried numerous times. PC Windows machine.

Had the same issue and this worked for me. I’m running Windows 11

  • Downloaded a fresh copy of 2.3.0 from the new release post
  • Uninstalled old version locally
  • Run a clean install locally with the new version
  • reboot PC

Yes fortunately I have solved it!

I downloaded the Windows executable of the new version from this page, and once started it asked me if I wanted to repair the software or uninstall it.
at which point I screwed the dinistallation, rebooted and re-installed the new version with the full program package: no problem!

Thank you
That worked

:joy: i’ve this problem too.

Support and I have been trying different things all to no avail. So for grins I tried loading up 2.2.2 and all went according to Hoyle. So I’m betting the the problem lies with the installer code.

It is strange though that no one else has experienced the same issue as that is a stock CPU.

I will check settings for my AMD in the firmware … BTW have you the latest firmware installed? It was last updated in 2022 so you should have.

Yes, very strange! As far as I’m aware I should have everything up to date including graphics drivers. Every other graphics program installs including Gigapixel AI after following your suggestion a few days back.

I have yet to ever have this approach work. Not once. Installing from the top post and Don suggested has always been the only solution for me.

Try to update BIOS (Asus Website) and Chipset driver (AMD website).

Hi,
I am finding when upscaling, even a small upscale the software seems to be very slow compared to previous updates.

Hi! Can you help clarify it is slow with some specific models, or any models? Thanks!

HiYuan,

It is much slower to use either of the new Models compared to running the same image in Gigapixel.

Kind Regards
Douglas Ritchie

Standard v1 and v2 should be same time cost at least. Can you help send me a log file for a session running both v2 and v1 standard model for us debugging?
