[RESOLVED] - Models downloading upon each launch in Photo AI

Every time I try to run Topaz Photo AI, it downloads models. I have been unable to use the software at all due to this issue. It never completes whatever download is necessary and simply tells me it is unable to process the images.
Computer specs within requirements of software
Windows 10 (up to date)
Photo AI 3.4.2
Accessing through Lightroom classic as plugin
Software has access to write to storage
Please advise. Thank you.

basically, check for av software, firewalls, vpns, anything that restricts/limits downloads. try reinstalling (not using in-app update), etc.

search the forum - this has been repeatedly posted but it’s hard to tell whether reinstalling actually helps or not.

All your models should be installed in the initial installation, and the app trying to download models every time you open it is not a normal behavior. Missing models means that a security program on your computer blocked some of the AI models from downloading.

Here are the steps to download the missing models. NOTE: Because the models were previously blocked from downloading, it’s very important to momentarily turn off any security software you have before re-installing. This can be VPN, proxy, firewall, anti-virus software, cloud settings, or Windows Defender / Windows Defender SmartScreen, for example.

  1. Keep the current version installed.
  2. Download a fresh copy of Photo AI from your products page
  3. Run the installer.
  4. Once done, please retry opening to see if you have all the models installed.

For the past several days, when I start Photo AI it says that it must “Download Models.”

“Some models need to be re-downloaded before images can be processed.”

This takes quite a long time. Is there any solution?
