Every time i try to render an image in Gigapixel, it gets stuck and never actually “finishes up”, I don’t have low specs for a PC either, running windows on a Ryzen 9 4000 series with an RTX 2060 and 16 gigs of RAM. I’ve let it try for over half an hour and it still doesn’t work. I Can run and scrub DavinciResolve but yet cant process 1 single image??? this tells me there is an issue with your software, please fix it or give me a refund. I don’t appreciate being sold KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE software… and just when I was about to tell everyone how great your software is…can’t say much now that it’s inoperable.
I’m having the same problem!
Me to same whatever i am on mac or PC
Same here, 8.10 on Windows 11 PC. Starts rendering and halfway through just stays with spinning wheel. Tried with a few different images with simple settings.
Same with me. How do I get my money back?
Same issue here. I have a new macbook and plenty of space. Tried all different images, nothing ever renders, just stuck with spinning icon. Feels like a scam to just get people to buy cloud credits.
ditto. a waste of a program at the moment.
Hi.
Not having this issue myself what are your system specs and have checked if your drivers are up to date

I had the same problem on Gigapixel 8. It renders Ai enlargements and improvements fine and pretty fast, but if I try to run the Redefine it hangs up and never finishes, even on small files under 1200x pix, even on 400x images at no enlargement and I get the CPU render warning triangle. I changed the options from auto to GPU and that didn’t help. I have a fast 6GB video card and fast CPU and fast M.2 NVMe SSD drives. I reinstalled the program with no luck.
I ended up buying Gigapixel 6.3.3 and it works fine but I can’t get it to update to 7.0 and I’m waiting for a reply about the 8 hang up before I try to update to it.
Hi.
I don’t know if this applies to you but, there’s an issue with Mac OS 15
Here’s a link from Ange at Topaz Support with instructions on how to fix this issue
One point you raised
I ended up buying Gigapixel 6.3.3 and it works fine but I can’t get it to update to 7.0
You ended up buying GigaPixel 6.3.3 did you buy Gigapixel 6.3.3 from a third party vendor
Because, this would have been impossible to buy version 6.3.3 from Topaz and because, you would have had free access to GigaPixel 6.3.3 and all other versions above & below that regardless of which version you originally purchased
Another point, you won’t be able to upgrade to version 7.0 from version 6 from within the app because, version 7.0 and beyond is a completely new application therefore you’ll have to do a fresh Install from the Release page here’s the link
In some cases you may have to uninstall version 6 first before you can install version 7.0 or higher

I don’t remember how I got Guigapixel 6.3.3 I had been in a conversation earlier with someone at Topaz about PhotoAi asking about an upgrade from my Topaz DeNoise Ai and they said they would give me a discount when I bought one of these. I ended up buying 6.3.3 after having v8 hanging on the render feature and I just found out that even though the website requirements for v8 state that it requires 6GB VRAM, it actually needs 8GB and I didn’t want to have to go out and buy a new video card. Anywy, in the 6.3.3 version in the Help Upgrade, it has the dl for v7.0 so I used that to try to install it, and it installed, but then would not start when I clicked on it. This was my Topaz order # [Order #TS-11764231] (March 4, 2025)
The big question is, do you need to buy a new GPU and do you need 8GB VRAM the answer is no you don’t and not necessarily in your case allow me to explain, you’ve read the minimum requirements saying you need 8GB VRAM to run the Generative AI Models
The good news is you don’t need 8GB of VRAM for either Photo AI or Gigapixel version 8 your 6GB of VRAM is more than adequate to run all Standard AI Models & features for Photo AI and both Basic and Legacy AI Models on Gigapixel, except Super Focus (more on Super Focus later) for Photo AI and Gigapixel’s Redefine plus Recover Models.
Here’s the links explaining the basic and Legacy models
Both Gigapixel and Photo AI have new more powerful Generative AI Models, Gigapixel has the Redefine plus the Recover Models and Photo AI has Super Focus
This doesn’t deter or take anything away from the original AI models they are still incredibly powerful
Topaz states your GPU needs at least 8GB of VRAM to run these new models locally on your machine and that they offer a faster Cloud Rendering service for those who don’t meet the minimum GPU requirements which involves purchasing Cloud Credits.
Reading between the lines, 8GB is only a recommendation and Topaz can’t guarantee the application won’t crash with anything less then 8GBs
As you have already discovered you had a rendering situation whereby your computer was just hanging.
There could be three plausible reasons for this
- Not enough VRAM for difficult images
- Out of date Drivers for your GPU
- The image is to challenging for your system
Solution update your drivers and try again or upload and render in the Cloud more on Cloud Credits later
About this 8GB of VRAM or not, I can’t speak for myself because, I have 24GB VRAM but, many members have said if a message pops up saying you need 8GB of VRAM and you only have 6GB then ignore the message and continue with your Render it may take longer to render your image but nevertheless may work
So, is it still recommended to have at least 8GB of VRAM for the Generative AI Models. If you want them to run smoothly then yes I’m afraid so and the more VRAM you can though at your system the quicker and smoother they will render
In light of this I seldom use the Generative AI models, relying on the standard models and only occasionally do I use the Generative AI for more challenging and difficult assignments
Besides, there’s always Cloud Credits, Topaz sometimes have occasional deals on these here’s a link with a information about Credits
Here’s the link about the different Photo AI and Gigapixel Generative AI Models
You were also asking about a discount for Photo AI. There was a discount if you owned the original current applications DeNoise, Sharpen and GigaPixel AI then you could download Photo AI for free even if you owned one or two of the current original apps you were entitled to a substantial discount.
As the original applications are no longer supported or updated then, the last versions must still be current / the latest versions?
If only it was that easy, the original applications are discontinued and no longer available for purchase
You’ll have to speak to someone at Topaz Support about that Topaz Support are good people and normally very approachable here’s the link to contact Topaz Support

Thanks, the problem I was having with Gigapixel 8 was with the render and recover modes that would hang and not finish the process so I would have to cancel each time. I got the CPU warning triangle each time I tried either of them. The rest of the enhancements, especially the face recognition, worked great and were very quick. I have the latest driver updates and a Navida Gforce 1660 with 6GB VRAM. the website states that the requirements for v8 are: “Graphics Card (NVIDIA) NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti or higher, 6GB VRAM” I tried the process on several different images and it couldn’t handle the render or recover with any size image, even smaller 400x size at 1x enlargement. I had read that images need to be under 1200x, but these were much smaller. I contacted tech support and that’s when I got this answer from the Topaz tech, Ned U: Based on your system specs, it looks like the issue comes down to VRAM. The Recover and Redefine models have higher processing requirements compared to standard enlargements, and they need at least 8GB of VRAM to run locally. Since your GTX 1660 has 6GB of VRAM, it’s unfortunately below the minimum needed, which is likely why the process is hanging instead of completing.
If you’re open to upgrading in the future, a GPU with at least 8GB VRAM (like an RTX 3060 or higher) would allow you to use these models smoothly.
The free trial I got of Photo Ai is version 1.5.3 and it didn’t have the super focus you mention which you are telling me is in a newer version 3.3.0?? I wish I had known that, I could have done more tests to compare it against getting the Gigapixel 8 which had the hang problem but stated it work with my 6GB card, no where did I see a minimum requirement of 8GB mentioned, and I ended up with an older version 6.3.3 legacy model, so I’m not enjoying the improvements of the newer Ai models? I’m not interested in purchasing cloud credits, I want a program that works locally, so that’s out.
A lot of this has not been very clear and I’m feeling a bit upset spending so much time on this. At this point, if Gigapixel 7.1.0 will offer the generative Ai improvements, will it work on my 6GB system, or am I going to have the same problem I had before with the v8 requiring 8GB?
BTW the Photo Ai I’m trying out from the Topaz website is V1.5.3… if I were to get the newer version 3.3.0 you mention is it also going to not run on my system? Again, the Topaz web minimum requirements states that 6GB will work for it. Thsnk,
This was the notice I got today again in the Gigapixel 6.3.3 and I looked at the release notes link that says there were a lot of improvements in v7.0.0 I think I’m going to uninstall this version 6 and dl and install the v8 again… I’ll just live with not being able to use the Recover and Redefine until I can get a faster video card some day.
Although I feel your frustration and disappointment I’m afraid it’s not good news this time because, you have actually raised another issue I didn’t foresee it’s your GTX 1660 although a still powerful GPU it hasn’t got the superior processing power of a RTX series card I believed you were using
Your GTX 1660 is more than adequate to run Photo AI’s Standard Enhancements and Gigapixel’s Basic & Legacy Models unfortunately it’s underpowered for the latest Generative AI Enhancements.
At this present time the only answer for you if you want to use Generative AI is either upgrade your card when you have an opportunity or purchase Cloud Credits
I know you don’t want to do either of those options so, speak to Topaz Support again for help and again explain your situation that you misunderstood the system specs information and as I mentioned before they have a good team and are very approachable when comes to helping people

Hope you get some kind of resolution
Andy
Thanks, Andy: I decided to install the latest Gigapixel 8 and just forgo the Restore until I get a stronger card some day. I’m surprised at your comment about the minimum GPU cards required on the website which are the “NVIDIA GTX 1660 6GB VRAM and an AMD Radeon 570 6GB RAM” Unless you were talking about a different RAdeon card or the RTX 3060 mentioned above?
In a comparison between an NVIDIA GTX 1660 6GB VRAM and an AMD Radeon 570 6GB RAM, the GTX 1660 is significantly more powerful. The Radeon 570 is considered an older, less capable card, making the GTX 1660 the better choice for modern gaming, especially at higher resolutions and settings.
Anyway, after a problem with color off in the program, fixed in preferences, it’s now working fine and is truly impressive… not sure if I will even be using my Topaz DeNoise anymore as this seems to work just as well with the advantage of the face reconstruction with is pretty amazing. thanks again for all your help.
