DeNoise AI 2.3.6

Could it be that it occurs with a certain type of image (png, tif)? Here is a jpg ISO 3200 image processed in low Light with enhance sharpness set to 0. Can you point out the artifacts if you see any?

Yup, this, for example:

Also in my case, this image:

mirror-test

ends up like this:

Not happy That Topaz Labs decided to go the Adobe route with a yearly subscription model. Will keep on using the current packages.

It’s almost like they trained the AI using enlargements that were made with a lens that had chromatic aberration issues.

Loading and viewing jpg files that have been processed with the latest version is very slow. It takes a few seconds to load a 24mpx jpg file on an SSD, but if I remove EXIF info it loads up fine.
Also EXIF is not carried over correctly, but I seen people report that before.

@mikmod1 Thanks, I didn’t know where to look. I can reproduce that but I never use zero sharpening so it won’t affect me. A simple fix is to make the minimum setting to 1 and apply a little blur to it to reduce the slight sharpening. This would be under the hood and only happen at the zero setting. Much more effective than a whole model that doesn’t work well.

Yup, but if you don’t use zero sharpening within Low Light model, you’ll never invoke Hi-Fi model, it seems.

From the release notes (1st post)

“* Added new model that does no sharpening
– To use this model, use Low Light mode with 0 sharpening”

Just installed 2.3. Low light does not work. AI does not work. Only DeNoise functions. The other two modes cause an instant crash of the program. I have an AMD R9 graphics card with 8gig of ram. If I choose the process with GPU in preferences, I get zero noise reduction. Any ideas?

Just installed 2.3

I used it as an Plugin fĂŒr LR CC

Every time I want to edit a picture in Denoise that I opened in LR CC Denoise closed without any edit

Please go to Help-> Graphics info press Copy and paste the info here.

Just installed 2.3

Application & Version: Topaz DeNoise AI Version 2.3.0

Operating System: Windows 10 Version 1909

Graphics Hardware: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620

OpenGL Driver: 3.3.0 - Build 23.20.16.5018

CPU RAM: 8067 MB

Video RAM: 1500 MB

Preview Limit: 3466 Pixels

When I press the auto button Denoise closed
If I press the update button first and in the next stepp the auto button Denoise worked

Do you have an alternative high performance GPU on your PC?

If you do go to Graphics settings in the Windows Settings, search for the DeNoise executable add it and assign it to High-performance. If not make sure that you have selected CPU/OpenVINO in the preferences in DeNoise as the processing option.

I doesn’t have a alternative GPU

The other option with CPU doesn’t work

With the older version of Denoise I have no problems

You can try raising a support request at the main website to see if they can help but I am not sure what they can do as your PC doesn’t meet the minimum technical requirements.

If you need a copy of the previous version, v2.2.12, you can download from here:

True, I was addressing the artifacts that occur when using the HiFi model. You could get the same result without the artifacts if the zero setting was actually 1 (which provides a little sharpening) then it is slightly blurred which removes the sharpening. This blurring only occurs at the zero setting. Problem solved and no artifacts. Of course Topaz will need to get rid of the pesky HiFi model and implement my solution.

just fyi, I have seen several questions on other popular software forums asking about the notification situation with respect to the new upgrade policy. They have fallen into two categories:

  1. users saying just turn off the notifications if you are not updating

Erroneous, because the notifications can only be deferred
max of 2 weeks (currently) via the new dialog.

  1. deferral of only 2 weeks will be inadequate and will become tedious in short order

The devs might want to consider adding a longer deferral time.

Ver 2.3 runs when called from within Lightoom Classic but if I try to run it directly with the shortcut, the UI is blank. Tried uninstalling and deleting the registry keys but still the same result.

Can’t upload images to this forum for some reason. Shows in “preview” but get error message when I hit “reply”

Has the Enhance Sharpness algorithm been made more aggressive in v2.3.0? Now finding lots of halos and over-sharpening effects on high contrast edges that were not there in earlier versions. Even with sharpening turned down to 5 or less I’m now needing to use the mask subtract function much more than the last version where I could more often than not leave the Enhance Sharpening at 15 without unpleasant over-sharpening effects being apparent.
