Please, consider the following, after reading as of this post and onward:
The bug, if you are willing to call it that, is that cropping a video of, say, 1920x816p, followed by a ‘Crop to fill’ setting, causes the letterbox bars to be removed, and the vid upscaled in height to 1080p. So far, so good. But doing so inevitably also means – in this case – 234px needs to be cropped off each side. The latter, however, does NOT occur, which is extremely counter-intuitive, as you will always lose those areas. And also makes processing the upscale of the cropped movie ca. 4x as slow (and causes black blotches in Proteus v3). Even the Preview correctly crops off those areas, but the actual command line doesn’t.
Suggestion: let TVAI do an auto ‘Crop opposite sides’ upon a ‘Crop to fill’ settings. In my example above, auto-crop 234px from each sides automagically as a resullt of upscaling the 816p source to 1080p.
