Hi! I need to process a lot of files with same mask/region for object removal, would be great if you can save “removal area” as preset for example, or use mask image
thank you

I was editing same photos of landscaping to create a timelapse, but I noticed the Mask created for one photo cannot be copied to all others to have same mask, will be nice to add an option to copy mask to all photos, this use case most likely common for timelapse
Makes sense. We haven’t built this since processing timelapses is a rarer use case. If there’s movement across the batch though, wouldn’t you want a slightly different mask?
Shame that there is not a way to copy a mask from one enhancement to another, rather than having to mask each time.
I have photos of an office interior and Topaz Ai seems to have problems with carpet areas, so I want to mask out the carpets. (Denoise really removes all carpet detail.)
The photo however does need Denoise and Sharpening elsewhere. I just cannot see away to mask an area to use on all enhancements or am i missing something obvious ?
This currently is not a feature for Topaz Photo AI however I have added this information to our Ideas thread on the Forums. Please make sure that you do not forget to vote for your idea
I regularly need to adjust automatic masking (subject/background), mostly for fine details on subject edges. However, I did not find any way to duplicate the custom mask I created once (and depending on the subject, it can be time consuming), even when ducplucating a treatment with such a custom mask, the mask is not duplicated (and the other settings neither), only the category of the treatment is duplicated, not so useful.
It would also be great if one can easily reverse the custom mask (same logic as subject/background)
When selecting multi photos to edit program does not apply to every photo[Please describe your issue here. Try to include logs (Help → Logging) and add screenshots if necessary.]
Steps to reproduce issue:
Topaz Photo AI [v1.x.x] on [Windows/Mac]
I require my workflow to be reproducible, so I would also like a way to export/import masks.
I would use this mask for “Remove Object,” so I would also like a way for the user to specify the seed for the generated pixels.

If your AI system can’t spot the subject and I have to manualy select it (This can be a long winded process), could you make it that once I’ve selected the subject, everything else uses it as the subject and doesn’t revert to the AI one ? It is really annoying.
I can move this to the Ideas section and other users can vote to have such a feature!
Also, can you show screenshot of this image on which the subject is not detected correctly? Can you show what the AI selects for subject in a second screenshot as well?
I agree with OP. It is just basic functionality to be able to copy a mask from one enhancement to another, and to invert it when necessary.
I also agree with @ ian-k-227 that often all we really need is to redefine the Subject mask, and then have that be the Subject through all the other enhancements. Like him, that is my main use case.
PAI subject detection is really very good. But there will always be cases where it doesn’t do exactly what we want. In those cases, some better mask handling capabilities will really speed up our workflow.
I also want to be able to make a maual subject mask correction and for the software to then use that for all other functions whilst editting that image.
It would seem like the most obviouse function.
I wish Photo AI had a way to save a Sharpen mask for later use. Sometimes I have to carefully and tediously add and subtract bits to make a good mask. I then make use of it and export the result. Later (a day, a week, a month later) I sometimes want to make a change to Sharpen values or change the Sharpen model. Or maybe a newer version of Photo AI does a better job of sharpening. I then have to once again carefully and tediously add and subtract bits to make a good mask (to duplicate the mask I had gone to so much trouble earlier).
Lightroom Classic has masking (really, really good masking) and it saves the mask so that anytime I can go back and make any adjustments/changes I want to. I wish Photo AI would provide a way to save its mask also. Maybe a sidecar file?
I have been pushing for this for several years. It used to be possible to save and export masks in the old defunct Topaz Mask AI and so I’d have thought it something that would be easy to do here.
Another case is when I carefully create a Sharpen mask and also use other functions such as Denoise, Face recovery, Upscale, etc. Later I may want to run Photo AI again to change the Upscale or Denoise or something else, but then I must tediously try to recreate the Sharpen mask again.
You are rightly reporting limitations that I actually consider to be of three different types:
Regarding the last point, I had already inserted a post in Ideas last March without obtaining any results
Maybe I didn’t express myself well !
Thank you for the very good additional comments.
I hope Topaz adds this ability to Photo AI. I was not aware that they already have it in Mask AI so it is strange that it is not in Photo AI also.
I have had occasion to sharpen a lightly out of focus subject, which TPAI can do quite well with its masking feature. But then I need to blur the background. Since I cannot do this in TPAI I have to create a mask all over again in a third party app. It would be nice to be able to use the mask from TPAI!
Yes, I need to go back and make changes days later and having the ability to save a file with all masks and adjustments intact would be very helpful.
