What is Topaz installing on my Mac?

I was updating Topaz Gigapixel, Topaz Photo, and Topaz Video. Inside one of these updates, there was an installed background process that macOS prompted me about. What is this, what’s it for, and why wouldn’t Topaz identify themselves as the developer? This is extremely shoddy work by Topaz. I turned it off and things seem to still work ok for now, but I’d like to know what this is…

New .sh file added to System Settings after installing Video 1.6?

Something strange happened today after Installing Video 1.6.0 on my M5 Pro Mac. A new file called .sh file was added to Login Items, App Background Activity! File called .sh from an unknown developer ? Claude AI told me it was for NUKE. First of all, I don’t have NUKE installed, but why was a .sh script file added to the login… Sketchy.

TLDR: yes, you can simply disable this

No, it’s not harmful

And also no, it shouldn’t have been installed at all.

This is really inexcusable by Topaz Labs. They should do better when it comes to minimizing the amount of software that auto-runs on a customer’s computer.
