Wacom stylus continues painting when lifted off tablet

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Apply Sharpen filter (standard, as example) to subject
  2. Edit selection

Result: When I lift stylus and move it, painting continues (in add and in remove modes).

Expected result: painting to cease.

I closed all other applications, in case one was affecting the painting. Made no difference. Bug is intermittenet, and hard to pin down. It is present, and driving me crazy (painting with mouse not tried but not an option I want to use to paint).

“Appears” to be triggered when I press Space and move preview, though I cannot trigger it when I try.

Topaz Photo AI [v3.2…1] on [latest macOS]. Wacom Intuos CTH-480 (latest drivers).

Please follow the instructions below to perform a clean install to troubleshoot better why you had this problem with Topaz Photo AI:

  1. Be sure you have fully closed any plugins, such as Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, etc.
  2. Clear any previous plist files on your computer for Topaz Photo AI | Topaz Photo AI | plist Files Mac
  3. Disable any antivirus, firewall, VPN, or proxy software that might be active on your computer. These tools sometimes interfere with the installer’s ability to download the model files.
  4. Ensure that the Topaz Photo AI installer has all the proper settings in your system by going to your Mac System Settings > Privacy & Security tab and scrolling down to the security section. You will want to make sure you have ‘App Store and identified developers’ selected | MacOS | Example of Proper System Preferences
  5. Rerun the installer. You can download a new installer from your account’s download page | Topaz Labs | My Account | Download Page

Let me know how that goes for you and I’ll keep an eye out for your reply.

Thanks, John. I will try a new install. Apart from the plist file, are there any others I can delete before installing again?

As I suspected, that was a waste of time but thought I would give it a spin.

The brush tool works as expected, it just doesn’t work as expected some of the time.

Having reinstalled, first image I tried to paint the tool stuck on paint when I lifted the pen.

After trying various things in Photo AI, turned off Stage Manager. So far, brush tool behaves as it should, window behaves as it should (had to resize it to fit screen on each launch!). And filter panel stays put, instead of scooting all over the screen when clicked.

I don’t think this app has been tested with Stage Manager.

Shangara.

Panel hopping on click came back. Relaunching pinned it again to the side of the column.
