Installer still hangs after clicking the “Install” dialogue step and can only be terminated via ending the background process with task manager (same issue since beta 7). PC, Windows 10.
Still some issues with a custom model directory on Windows. Before running the installer I opened my current models folder in the explorer then during the installation all the jsons files have been removed but they never reappeared and have been copied in the default directory.
Also in the video settings, NTSC videos are now showing with 15 digits
This is intended. The json files for models, presets and encoders will be always stored in programdata on windows. For command line there are two environment variables now.
This decision was made to keep things simple for us and at the same time allow users to store the larger model files(tz) wherever they want.
Can you please try a clean install.
Open regedit and delete the following section: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video AI BETA
Then install with the installer.
Let me know if it works.
Back from the remote wilds before which I had MAJOR problems with 3006b. Uninstalled, and installed 3009b.
The MAJOR improvement is that now with multi-pass stabilization, the image is indeed well stabilized and without the horrible wavy swirling effects. GOOD JOB!
Still a bunch of workflow issues.
Trim (timeline, not crop/image) and seeing the preview band are now mutuallly exclusive. You see the band but not trim when trim button is off, and trim but not band when trim is on. Must be able to see trim when trim button is off so as to reliably select a Preview band within the trim.
Can we please have a user-defined maginification setting for Preview? I’ve hit “Fit” countless times because it (not 1:1) is my default workflow.
Still MAJOR problems handling interlaced. When I first opened my 25fps interlaced FHD test file, Beta correctly reported it as that. Then, some short while later (after a Preview or two?), it now reports the SAME video (not reloaded) is 50fps. NO IT’S NOT. IT’S 50 HALF FRAMES PER SECOND. Can we please get a grip on this after NUMEROUS reports across MULTIPLE betas? Now, the Interlace option only shows the x2 fps options. I NEVER WANT X2 OPTIONS. This would result in 25fps/i becoming 100fps/p on output, which is nuts. PLEASE restore the non-x2 deinterlace options and ensure the software remains connected with the proper interpretations. (More below.)
I can reliably Preview, but on no occasion does clicking the Export button in 3009b do anything at all. No processing is indicated and no output file is generated. [Later edit: All the Export button does is switch the Frame Interpolate option on, which I don’t want.]
Hard to tell because it’s not listed in the notes, but PLEASE restore single-frame Preview option so enhancement versus artefact can be quickly tested without having to compute a minimum of 25/30/50/60 frames for each iteration.
Back to only one Enhancement allowed. Oh dear. The rejig of the deinterlace as an Enhancement now means NONE of the lovely quality improvement models are available if you need to deinterlace. (I did notice that even though deinterlace now disturbingly appears AFTER stabilizing in the processing options, it does seem to deinterlace first.) Please return deinterlace as its own option (first, and probably expanded for interlaced source/collapsed for progressive source), so that ACTUAL enhancements can be done on interlaced footage.
Can’t tell as I can’t get Export to produce any output, but the interlace misadventures (item 3 above) MIGHT create super-slow processing. E.g. input is 25fps (two half fields at 50fps). Dione x2 processes it to 100fps. I ask for 25fps output, so it would have to re-interpolate every four frames into one.
Initially, a Preview would play exactly once, despite the “Pause” button display suggesting it was still playing. Clicking the Pause (and then Play) button ran the Preview once. Now, after a few Preview tests, the Preview plays repeatedly until paused. Not sure what that was about. [Later edit: the single-play Preview is back, have to click the Play/Pause button repeatedly to watch again. Not sure, but it seems that the most recent Preview plays only once. If you click to watch any previous Previews than all play on repeat, including the most recent when you go back to it.]
Minor issue with multi-pass stabilize (rolling shutter and reduce jitter both on) producing random flashy pixels within around 2-3% of the frame edge. The same pixel value seems to be copied in a horizontal band at the edge. I’m not too fussed about these as I would crop most of my stabilized output a bit anyhow. [Later edit: Switching from Full Frame to Auto-crop reduced the artifacts to about 4 pixels at the right-hand frame edge.]
Summary: Stabilize is now well-implemented, and I can report that it produces a better (Preview only so far) stabilized result than two other commercial stabilizers I’ve been using. Great job! Still a ways to go with usability and workflow features.
Please advise on Export button doing nothing… I’d like to get a stabilized result into my NLE to check it out.
Maybe I’m not getting the point of keyboard shortcuts and why we are loosing functionality. In 2.6.4 you load a file and start in trim mode. You advance the play head with right arrow, you hit I and that’s the in point where the conversion begins, you keep advancing with right arrow and hit O for the out point.
So we now have keyboards shorts cuts, but no short cut for in and out points, so we advance with arrow find the point we want to start converting, but i can’t do anything with it. It does not translate to in or out when I jump to trim mode. So i still have to grab my mouse and have to manually position the orange markers for in and out.
A little context, i shoot weddings, so I might work on a 15 second clip of someone dancing, slow it down, de-noise it, and upscale it to 4k. There might be 10 or 20 small sections that I enhance, so precision editing is a must. enhancing 1080p to 4k with slow motion takes a long time, don’t want to waste precious minutes enhancing frames i do not need.
Maybe I’m harping on this, but I have a contour shuttle with jog wheel, and this was programmed in 2.6.4 and all worked.
How soon till HDR in Included. Also look at the hairs of the black and white cat vs the wood floor and the fur of the cat can you improve it,i uploaded the video file
awful software. totally downgrade from 2.6.4 bad quality. insane processing times (a 42 minutes video takes 14 hours to take from 720 to 1080p and apply some theia enhacing to the image) not to mention the UI is a bad joke. it looks like you want this software to be awful and unusable.
On a separate note, how do I select the start and end frames for export? There is a clip button that tries to make me select by time index, but the time is wrong even with correct frame rate input and input is image sequence. However the frame selection boxes are not there anymore.
Also, selecting correct frame rate of input source, the program is “auto activating” frame interpolate to change frame rate - why is it trying to do that? I don’t want it to export in a different frame rate, and I am trying to export as images so it shouldn’t care about the frame rate.
Pressing preview with the correct framerate, reactivates interpolate despite then still not doing anything.
On and export button does nothing either, so I can’t even export to test the output.
