Loading an mpeg2 interlaced file : very slow to load. cursor on timeline is not working.
playback too.
Loading other videos, all of them are playing at slow motion… (yes, slow speed playback is turned off).
same with a TS file recorded from Tv. (25fps). slow timeline cursor move.
it seems all videos are played at 1/2 speed. will uninstall and re install in case the issue is related to this.
Edit : same issue after re install. video is playing back at not normal speed.
suggestion : when setting a part to be processed using the scissor, when unchecking it, the icon doesn’t stay in blue, it let think that the option is turned off but it’s not. maybe a possibility to have the icon staying “in blue / lighting” when the feature is turned on would be better.
it’s a general problem i think but it’s worst that the usual “known issue”, i have this issue with every videos. for some of them, it’s worst. it was not making this with the previous alpha.
yes i can send all the videos if needed. or doing a screen capture of the issue. i didn’t even tried to encode anything, as it’s happening with the playback or doing a preview without activating any filters.
Can confirm: Interlaced TS / mpeg cause sluggish UI, cursor positioning. Drag and drop almost impossible. Playback for me at double speed (50 fps instead of 25)
Just sent two screen captures of the issue with multiple videos format.
(just checked, my .ts file, it’s in H264 720p 25fps, but it make the cursor positioning almost impossible to use. maybe it’s related to the file format ?). playback is running at kind of 12fps.
Can you try the 34a version I just posted on top and let me know if it is still too slow and unusable.
Will be working on GUI speed next week, so hopefully it should be much faster in next week release.
Overall, I am excited about the new possibilities that version 3.X will offer. However, I have some issues.
I successfully installed V3.0.0.34a PKG on my Mac and opened up two clips. I wanted to be able to set the same parameters for both and set it to run, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. Instead, I had to put the parameters for each video and add the job to the queue separately. It seems this was the only way. Furthermore, it is running the jobs in parallel. Surely, it would be prudent to run them consecutively.
In contrast, V2.6.4 offers an “Edit All” option. i.e., I can open multiple videos and run the same parameters on them. This is very convenient and efficient if I have a lot of videos with similar characteristics and issues that need the same treatment. Furthermore, it runs the jobs consecutively, which is less risky and more efficient than running them in parallel.
About the “face recovery” feature that’s announced. Would be nice to have a function where the program identifies faces and asks for who the “actor” is from a series or photos, and the user can define who the person is so the face can be overlayed according to the learned profile from pictures.
Suggestion on the redistribution dlibs: Can you only include the necessory libs for VEAI, for example, excluding openh264, libvpx… I want to choose the libs I need and every time I have to manually find the ones required by VEAI.
1/ speaking of responsive of the timeline use : Depends on videos. on .ts file it was working a bit better, on h264/mp4 depends of videos, but still very slow and not easy to use.
(I understood that the playback of the video is not working properly for now or playing at normal speed).
2/ can’t make a second preview on a video without doing one action after it.
Example :
Import a video → make a 1 second preview = working.
trying to make a second preview at an another time = not possible to click on the preview button. moving the timeline cursor is not working at all.
I click on the resize button, turning it on and off, and everything work again as espected. timeline cursor + preview button is working again and can make a second preview.
Making a second preview is a breeze. First preview displays, click the three dots, remove it, slide the slider to another position, click preview and off it goes…works every time.
If you don’t want to delete the existing preview but want to add another, click on the source video in the lower left. The preview stops playing, slide the slider, run another preview.
it would be much more simple to be able to generate a second preview when we want, than having to click somewhere else to be able to do it.
It’s not clear enough that we must click on the thumb to be able to do this. especially after playing again one of the preview etc… i’m sure a better workflow for this would be to go to the simple route = one click, not two or three.
i’m expecting that as soon as i click on the timeline, i’ll be out of the preview mode, and would be able to generate a new one, but it’s not.
(just to add that the possibility to generate several preview is amazing Love this feature a lot ! when all the previews will be in sync, etc … and work properly it will be amazing (the feature in itself is already amazing), being able to see a difference between 2 proteus setting or 2 models in real time by just one click, ahhh !! i dreamed it, they did it !
Edit : Got it, preview is out when changing a setting, but not when moving the cursor on the timeline ! that’s what confused me.
Edit 2 : suggestion (certainly on the dev to do list) : would be great that the software keep the zoom setting of the preview to compare. for example.
preview 1 : Proteus setting 1 → zoom 1:1, and put the zoom on a particular scene.
preview 2 : Proteus Setting 2 → same.
but when clicking on the preview 1 again to watch it, the zoom is set back to default. making it impossible to make a comparaison of both video except in their default mode.
It makes sense though. You are in the preview screen. You wouldn’t generate a preview from a preview. Clicking back on Source makes perfectly logical sense for creating another preview. It’s a single click.
