in the preferences I set upscale which brings the files to 12mpx,
scene 1:
crop photo in PS and then open it in TPAI (<12Mpx ) = upscale start
scene 2:
crop photos directly in TPAI (<12Mpx) = does not start upscale

Can you confirm with me which Photoshop plugin option you are using:
Just to let you know the File > Automate allows for upscaling and cropping. The Filter Plugin does not allow upscaling and cropping.
no, the problem is not in PS but in TPAI.
There is an image of 20Mpx in TPAi and the first action is a crop that brings the image to 5Mpxl, the autopilot makes the various proposals but does not add upscale. My file is therefore output from 5Mpxl
