Unable to use Masks in LRC after preprocessing with TPAI

I selected a raw file (Nikon NEF) in Lightroom Classic and preprocessed it with Topaz Photo AI to sharpen and denoise. After saving it to LRC the resulting DNG file looks fine, but when I go the Develop mode and try to create a Subject Mask, it will not work. I have tried older DNG files that have been processed with TPAI in the past, and they work fine.

I updated TPAI just over the weekend and have only processed this one image so far. I also just spent about 2-3 hours in an online chat with Adobe support trying to resolve what I thought was an issue with LRC until we determined that it (LRC) is working normally.

I’m using a Mac mini running Sonoma 14.3 (currently the latest version) and TPAI 2.3.0

Again, I just updated TPAI to 2.3.0 over the weekend.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Step 1
Open LRC and select an NEF raw file
  2. Step 2
Click on File - Plug-in Extras - Process with Topaz Photo AI
  3. Step 3
Sharpen and Denoise the image and Save to Lightroom Classic
    (TPAI closes itself)
  4. Step 4
Open the DNG file in the Develop tab and select the Masking button
  5. Step 5
Observe that the Subject, Sky, and Background mask buttons are all greyed out

Please revert your app version to 2.2.2 with the link below and redo those steps, get back to me if the issue if fixed or if it persists

Cheers,

Hi There,

Thanks for that information; based on your sys profile, your computer is more than capable of handling the processing with no issue
