It’s likely the CEO is steering the direction of the products and the devs are just following that direction.

Yes, up to 90 fps, anything over and you get duplicate frames…

I used footage that had dupes removed, and footage with dupes, and the enhanced video is still choppy, I’ll do some tests for you and get back to you!

I use chronos, but I will test this to make sure, but my previous tests showed choppy enhanced videos, hopefully I’m proven wrong!

EDIT: Yeah, even when turning the sensitivity up to 100 I still have duped frames that are untouched, it’s a dead feature…

I am using a sensitivity on movies most 2…and old DVDs i set it to 6
The value of 10 is mostly doing a lot of unwanted things in intros…

Good Quality Input: 2
Bad Quality Input: 6

by the responses maybe it would have been a better idea to do improvements but leave ui alone and then make a beta w new ui for people to try ,even windows lets you use classic or new just sayin.

Just that if you remove the new UI there’s nothing really new with 4.0 except for Nyx 2…

Just as I did but I also read what I was paying for, there is no ā€œbonusā€, it clearly states you will receive one year of free upgrades as part of the purchase, which was a deciding factor.

From the time I purchased until now, it’s always been:

ā€œIncludes one year of unlimited upgrades.ā€
ā€œYou own the version you bought forever. You also get 1 year of new AI models and major upgrades with your purchase.ā€

Not 3 months of working upgrades, followed by non-working upgrades for hardware they specifically imply they support by having it as a selectable option in the software, (and stating when I purchased it). Followed 4 months later by, ā€œYeah, ok, downgrade to v3.1.9ā€, which as someone else has mentioned is not a sure fire working solution.
And then seemingly only in the last month they’ve started seriously looking at getting it working again on Arc GPUs while releasing a dysfunctional major upgrade.

No offence but unless you’ve been on the receiving end of this train wreck there’s no way you can spin it into a bed of roses.

My theory is that the devs are pressured into achieving weekly updates and as a consequence feel that they have to produce something to show, so produce whatever they can. Which would at times likely result in producing anything at all in a short deadline that comes at the cost of something else.

Obviously some things are going to take a while to get right. Pressure to get anything done in time for that weekly deadline is probably going to hamper progress on the more important goals.
As I say it’s just a theory, I may be wrong. Topaz reps could either confirm or deny whether this is the case.

I agree that it’s difficult to know exactly where to apportion any blame, or to whom specifically, it may be misplaced. Let’s just say that mistakes have been made.

Indeed. And I remember someone from the developer team mentioned that they are working on it. I would imagine a big release like 4.0 would be the time to release it, but nope. Bugs and yet again rearrangement of UI elements no one asked for, takes priority.

I am not sure if the new folks like the Recruiting Manager is fit for purpose TopaZ AI is not about philosophy and it probably requires engineers with a master in maths and not a Android Bachelor
Sorry I am an European Actually Dutch You know we make those Nice Machines ASML to bake your chips on your iphone, can we get some working on Topaz or can you get some smart Guys from India at least with a real proper Maths Master from a top university the product deserves it

There are broken cadences.

And it“s changing from some scene to another sometimes to not telecined.
All Frames are progressive, never interlaced…and that makes it difficult to reverse telecine.
TopazVideoAI, Davinci Resolve, VirtualDub, MPlayers MEncoder doesn“t handle it right at all.
I tried all combinations of options there.

Mostly it looks like this:
MMMF MMMF MMMF MMMF MMMF
M=Moving Frame F=Frozen Frame
This is also changing sometimes inside a scene(broken cadences).
Or it is maybe possible that some frames are cut out from an editor after being telecined.
The next scene could look like this:
MMMM MMMM MMMM MMMM MMMM

The Source material is mixed telecined:
Some scene with some scenes without, also deinterlaced(Progressive) with broken cadences and from scene to scene without telecine so theres no frozen frame.

So to reverse this kind of telecine MMMF it should be looked on these 4 frames:
M1 M2 M3 F4…to correct the timelime of these 4 frames in order to remove the bumby moving appearance:
M1 stays there unchanged, M3 is moving to F4 changing it to M4…
As a result M3 is now missing and M2 is getting M2-3(so this frame is visually correct between M2 and M3)…because the framerate of this section is changing from 3 real frames to 4.
M1 ā€œM2ā€ ā€œM3ā€ M4
so M2 needs to be rendered out of M1 and M2-3
M3 needs to be rendered out of M2-3 and M4…
but you can“t render an in between of these 2 images because M2-3 is already half M2 and half M3

So it needs to be rendered from M2-3 25%(instead of 50%) movement in the direction to M1 to get M2 and M2-3 25% movement in the direction to M4 to get M3.

After that the 4-Frame timeline is fixed and there are no more bumby movements in it…it is reversed telecined from 3 moving frames and a still frame to 4 real moving frames.

So to archive all the IVTC on Progressive Material it“s needed to scan a file for scene changes and maybe let the user check if those found correctly edit them and/or change the sensitivity of the scene change algorhythm.
After that each scene needs to be scanned for the telecine pattern MMMF…if itĀ“s found at least twice or third times in a row the complete scene could be marked as telecined.
Now itĀ“s also needed to scan this telecined scenes for broken cadences where suddenly pattern changes appears to handle this situations correcly…know which frames should be replaced and be rendered out of what should make sense…
All scenes without telecine can be just copied without any change.

In UI4 I can’t figure out how to compare the export side-by-side or split screen to the original. Am I missing something?

At the moment an export canĀ“t be viewed side by side because the Live Export-Preview has been removed…
it“s planned to comeback when all bugs are fixed like no more reacting when you just let it play(at the end of the just rendered section it comes often to completely freeze in where you need to restart TVAI or the side by side view is 2 frames out of sync or if you change framerates it“s also not synced in the right way or if you crop the video it“s also not showing right.

A nice feature could be to load any video to the left side maybe the original and on the right side load an video already completely rendered the day before in order to compare those both.
So it“s possible to compare videos at a later time or from different applications.
