I’m trying the Iris Enhancement Model right now on a 720P video that had previously been upscaled from 480I. On the plus side, facial details are indeed improved over Proteus and interlacing artifacts in the 720P version are also reduced
On the other hand, Iris runs on my machine at only about 60% of the speed of the Proteus model. I hope the Iris model will be further optimized in future releases.
Well that’s perfect timing. I miss out on this update by 4 days.
You are correct, I only saw some of the posts and missed the ones where more detail was provided, and then jumped to conclusions.
@virtutis - your feedback was good, just ignore what I said please
Is your output from TVAI using the Nvidia h264 encoder? I was wondering if you still get the morphing problem using Prores output? The morphing gives the impression that there might be some sort of instability in the motion vectors of the encoded output.
Actually with the way I process everything, its all done in images - images input and images output. Its because for most of the history of me using the app with TV series like Star Trek, the CGI sections often have to be dealt with differently to the live action. I have seen some beautiful CGI sections but applying them to the live action was atrocious.
So I usually export them as image sequences so that I can then target specific frame sequences and overwrite them with a different model before assembling them back in Adobe Premiere.
It’s a colossal job to redo everything. It would take a big server for speed to minimize the final rendering time xd.
Sorry but it does not get progressively better. The model works best at 2X, and imo you shouldnt use this model for 100% scale. Its best to do a pass of proteous v3 with reduced settings to get a better base then do 2X with Iris.
Hello
The output video files are exported with the @4.2 level.
My blu-ray player does not read 4.2 files.
How can I change the output level to 4.1?
Best regards
I wonder how much improvement the color correction can bring, in the previous version Apollo would change the color drastically, in the current version there is not much improvement.
In addition, Video AI should provide a limit on CPU usage. Currently, Video AI will occupy all CPU cores at a high level, which may cause delays and freezes in other operations.
I can get more fine details out of it at 4x, by tweaking the manual settings. You can test this by upscaling a video with small text in it. At 2x, the text will be rounded off and a bit ‘blobby’, and at 4x it will be nice and sharp. But, at 1x, it should hopefully get better with more training, as it’s pretty bad currently.
A very interesting update. I admit, so far I’ve still been using version 2.6.4 for the majority of the time, but I’m starting to like the advances in version 3.x. If this continues, I will renew my license again… please keep up the good work!
I’m trying multiple video edit with the new IRIS model. I can admit that the output is very good for low quality video around 480p or 720p.
However, the only slider doing a significant difference in the output is ANTI-ALIAS/DEBLUR and RECOVER ORIGINAL DETAIL. All other slider make a VERY slightly difference.
I’m I doing something wrong?
I see you have fps set to 120. Every time I try this the video starts off at normal speed, then slow motion. Not sure why that is.
this might be an issue with the video player. mpc-hc sometimes tends to play slow when the video itself should be played normal.
That’s not the problem, the 120fps is the original frame rate for this video. But i’ve tryed around 20 videos already, all get this minimum amount of change when using the slider in manual or relative to auto mode.
Hello, I tested this morning some older footage with the new Iris model.
I get always a very blurry preview on each video and different tested scenes.
Does Iris only work on scenes were are face closeups included without e.g. any background?
Color me favorably impressed!
I used the new Iris model on a video from my wedding nearly 30 years ago. The DVcam original’s quality is very poor. A pass with Iris (auto, no upscale) gave a big improvement, far better than any other model or earlier version.
License renewed. Keep up the good work.
A number of the sliders don’t make a big difference on this version of Iris, compared to the effect on Proteus.
