HA! Sounds like you need to come work at Topaz labs ![]()
Is it possible the recover original detail feature is picking different details to recover from frame to frame, even though it’s a mostly still subject, thus creating the motion like effect?
Your feedback is excellent, thank you! It is going to take some time for me to read through all of your previous posts and compile all of the points you shared.
This is the first release of Iris and some quality issues will occur since there is no way to test with every user’s video files.
If you ever feel like you are not being heard by our team, please DM me directly.
Hey, @david.123
@virtutis did a great job sharing point multiple times with us on many occasions. We are aware of these issues and they will take a bit longer to resolve ![]()
Please post your examples, only seeing text leaves us without a way to review the issues you are having.
Yes, this has not yet been resolved- keep an eye on the release notes and you will see when this is fixed ![]()
Good idea!
Good feedback, thanks for the specific example!
I was also going to mention the ripple effect of the iris model, but I see it’s been well covered.
I do still think it was meant for lower quality sources than what I am trying it on. So I’ll come back to it when I get to my lower quality sources. So far, Proteus Manual comes out with far more detail on DVD sources than Iris Auto.
Either way, what a cool new tool to work with!
I love the new Iris model. Works so well for old 90s videos shot with a VHS camera. One bug I guess on my M2 Max MacBook Pro is that it takes a long time to load but the results are stunning. I would say maybe 2 to 3 minutes before it starts processing. I can time if details are required. I have so many videos I want to run Iris on. Been looking for something like this for a long time. Great job on Iris!
It is certainly a great addition and will only get better with development ![]()
Absolutely! You have to start somewhere. This is exciting.
Ida, as much as I love the direction you are taking with Iris, it needs a lot more refinement or perhaps more training. In my tests, running it at 100% (1x) degrades original fine details as opposed to enhancing them. However, this does get progressively better with the 2x and 4x iterations of the model.
How long is it taking to load for you?
Certainly! It will continue to be refined and trained
This is only v1 of the model.
What I usually do is put it through a clean up process, such as Iris at 4K then use Handbreak to downsample it back to 1080p without losing quality, then put it through Video AI a second time at 4K with Proteus to gain all those details it couldn’t get the first time. Now this could be a lengthy process if the video is long or your hardware etc but I don’t mind it because the final result is amazing.

@nipun.nath : Iris produces blur output, I tried reinstallation, deleted model folder and regenerated. But none of them works
I’m trying the Iris Enhancement Model right now on a 720P video that had previously been upscaled from 480I. On the plus side, facial details are indeed improved over Proteus and interlacing artifacts in the 720P version are also reduced ![]()
On the other hand, Iris runs on my machine at only about 60% of the speed of the Proteus model. I hope the Iris model will be further optimized in future releases.
