Topaz Video AI OFX plug-ins crash DaVinci Resolve 19.1

I’m using Topaz Video AI 6.1.3 on a MacBook Pro M3 Max running macOS 15.3.2. Today, I tried using the OFX plug-ins for the first time, but DaVinci Resolve (v. 19.1) kept crashing repeatedly. I eventually had to uninstall the plug-ins.

Is this a known issue? I found this post describing something similar, but it doesn’t seem like anyone from Topaz has responded or looked into it yet.

The team is aware of some issues with the plugins and are working on getting these resolved.

Can you pull the OFX log files from the Video AI log folder and send to the support team directly for review?

To gather logs, please select Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support and inside that folder will be several files labeled OFXPlugin, grab those and attach them to your email. Please also include a link to this post.

With a new MacOS install, and DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 and the beta of VideoAI 6.2.0.1.b, I’ve discovered that if you have the “Topaz Video AI BETAframeinterpolation.ofx.bundle” plugin in your Library/OFX/Plugins folder, Resolve will quit before reaching the projects and Database window. I checked all of my plugins, and the other VideoAI and VideoAI beta plugins do not cause this to happen, just the BETA frame interpolation plugin (the non-beta version does not cause this to happen).

I had the same issue on a PC. Just removing the plug-in from the common-ofx folder cured it.

Yes. That worked for me too. Hopefully it’ll be fixed soon.

The OpenFX plugins automatically installed when running the beta. Whereas the non-beta installs when you tell it to.

Hi! I’m experiencing the same issue: after installing Topaz AI, DaVinci Resolve 19 crashes on startup and won’t open. I tried uninstalling Topaz, and DaVinci Resolve started working normally again. Were you able to fix it in another way? Could you explain how you did it?

I am on a PC and the plugins are installed here C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins. After installing Topaz go to this folder and remove the Topaz plug-ins. Then Resolve should start.

Thank you so much for your reply, could you be so kind to tell me which plugin to delete from the folder you indicated??

I had to remove both Topaz Video AI.ofx.Bundle and Topaz Video AIframeinterpolation.ofx.bundle from C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins to get Resolve 19.1.4 to launch. I have version 6.2.0 of Topaz Video AI installed.

Topaz Team - can you get this fixed please - I loaded Resolve 19.1.4 today and it has taken me best part of the day to find out what on earth has caused it to crash !!!
This is not good. I had to contact Blackmagic design to find out the issue was probably OFX plug in
Once I knew that I came straight here
