Topaz video ai desktop shortcut still won't delete

The icon can’t be deleted from the desktop. If you do a quick search “topaz video ai desktop shortcut won’t delete” then you can see other user reporting the issue for over a year. It might have something to do with the fact, that I’m using a company PC, but no other program I have ever used, have had this issue.

On this system do you have admin rights to remove things?

Have you uninstalled the app from the system and are still seeing the icon?

See if this article helps to narrow down the issue with the icon not being able to be removed.

I don’t have admin rights, but I doubt that’s the issue. It doesn’t give me a warning. It simply won’t delete. I have experienced the same thing on my personal PC. If you drop it in the bin, nothing happens. There is a way to delete the short cut, but it’s a hassle and I have to google it everytime there is a new update since it creates a desktop shortcut and ask it not to. There’s no point in uninstalling it, because when I reinstall, the same issue just reappears.

Here is a tip if you have Winrar installed (its free so you can download it anyway). Right click on the icon, than Add to archive, when winrar opens up, checkmark “Delete files after archiving”. After you have done so, you can delete the archived .rar file as well.

Using version 3.1.10. The installer does not give an option to not create a desktop icon and I am unable to delte the one it creates. Selecting the icon and pressing the delete key brings up a delete confirmation dialog. I click OK, yet the icon is not removed. There should be a prompt to grant admin rights for this action, but there is none, so that could be the issue. Very strange behavior. Using Windows 10 22H2

Topaz team
Hi there, Our team is aware of the inability to delete the desktop icon in managed Windows environments and we plan to fix this in a future update to the in-app upgrading system.

I sent a message to the devs to check up on this and try to get some clarity on the issue.
