The new interface is coming along. I like that the preview show down below again. When I select a preview from the list of previews I would like the play head to move to the beginning of that preview, begin playing and repeat until I either select another preview or press stop. Right now we have to manually move the play head to where the preview exists on the timeline and it’s a bit of an exercise. Nice progress.
PS. If I set the Enhancement type to Interlaced Progressive and use the Dione Robust model for Preview 1 and for Preview 2 one of the previews will say Dione Robust (Manual) and the other will say Dione Robust (Auto). Additionally if I select two different AI model versions the previews don’t indicate what version of the model was used.
You can make a backup from them and copy them between the official release the Alpha and the Beta.
On Windows they can be found here:
C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video AI\presets
C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video AI ALPHA\presets
C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video AI BETA\presets
Should be similar on other systems.
Normally the presets remain untouched…but it´s always good to keep a backup…
I’ve noticed this also in the stable VEAI v4 as well, but currently, this program reacts a bit funny on 4:3 MPEG 1 files:
I think it should be 576x480?
They’re being processed correctly though, but the ‘Pixel Type’ setting doesn’t seem to change anything resolution-wise (I set it to square pixel manually).
Seeing that there are several very different systems (M1, M2 and also Intel Macs; also both, Ventura and Sonoma) with this very exact same issue: Did you test this on MacOS at all??
It seems version 4 may have a similar problem to version2, in that, both sides of the preview seem to get processed again, even when there is no change to the one side. Am I wrong about that?
I process one side, and assuming there is an improvement, then I use that side to compare to the other side when I make the changes to that. At this point I don’t care what the original looked like as I’m seeking the best improvement I can find.
So, I really hope it’s not re-doing each side each time… That’s what it seems like.
I also don’t like the ‘Preview’ button. It was clear in the v3 that you were starting in the same place each time. I used this, (with a lot of manual work) to view one preview to the next.
I was going to ask for a feature to align all the clips from the same source footage. But what I did, was find a frame to view, then copy the timecode and set a zoom level from the drop-down. Then I’d copy and paste the timecode into each clip in the list and set the same zoom level.
Then I could click down the list and view the same frame from each preview.
I’m using it now, and I have a dreadful feeling it’s processing both windows each time, even though there is no changes to one. Please tell me this is temporary.
Preview does not have a loop still, and when it gets to the end of the preview it just cycles back .5 seconds and plays that and back .5 seconds, over and over.
Previews are now deleting when you remove it from the GUI.
EDIT - I have just seen in the app “export crop only applies to the final exports and will not crop your input videos or previews” Why on earth has this backwards change been made in this version??? This change means that when a crop is applied the preview will take longer to process than it did in previous versions - this is because the entire uncropped frame has to be processed in the preview.
16x9 crop is not seen in preview. Preview output is 4x3. Preview output viewed in external is 4x3 stretched to 16x9.
I have an issue with my output not matching the preview. Was using Iris medium quality and the output is nowhere near as good as what I was seeing in the preview window.
