I just upscaled a 360p source to 720p using Starlight Mini. Then I re-exported the clip using Starlight Mini as well keeping the same resolution . The result is amazing and very cool. It’s a worthwhile experiment for a madman like me.
My “day to day” PC is used for email, web browsing, video conferencing, desktop publishing and watching an occasional movie. I don’t need any bells or whistles for that at all.
i have a 5950x with 64gb vram, do you think it’s capping gpu powet that much?
You are bottlenecked… badly! Balance your rig.
daaamn
Well, I tried some short clips from those black and white videos, and no color was added.
Something definitely seems wrong on your end. I have a 5950x as well. I usually get at least .6 fps and that’s going to around 1080p. I might suggest completely removing all topaz files from your pc and starting completely fresh. Sometimes updating the program without a fresh install caused issues for me. It’s generally ok, but there have been times when I needed to do a fresh install. Are you using the latest nvidia studio drivers?
Wow, awesome! I’m going to test this out to see if it works. The fix was such a simple one.
Sometimes the services provided by cloud service providers are also worth it, upsampling from 640x480 to 1280x960. Can complete 42 minutes of DVD video in a day for only $6.68
if it’s not difficult for you, convert video 1.280x720 using Topaz mini X1 I have the same processor as you, but the video card is 3090, processing is done at a speed of 0.7 FPS
I could just build a day to day machine is your point…very low cost….no high end vid Card….maybe even just use on board graphics of a CPU. And just use the machine I use now simply as the rendering machine.
Yep….except one small problem…..
I play video games a lot in my spare time…..the ones I play and frame rates needed require a pretty high end card.
Yeah..l know…a 71 yr old video gamer playing shooters…crazy.
But…it relaxes me and keeps my fast twitch and target acquisition up for the pistol range.
And compared to what I did in my life for a long time….you can’t die….well, for real anyway.
When the SLM first came out, I noticed right away that I couldn’t use vts files without getting errors.
Now looking at this fix, I tried it by converting the audio to mpg and it did work with no error.
Well, then I went back and tried again with it in ‘copy’ mode and it also worked.
It seems to me that maybe Topaz fixed this for vts files.? Not sure, but at the moment, I’m not getting any error.
Regardless, I am still going to convert the vts to mpg4 before the mini export, just in case. It would be a nightmare if it would happen to crash using a vts after 24 hours or so.
In that case, there’s no getting around the need for two fairly high end systems.
Attention! I just discovered a big problem. When you close the source TVAI 7.0.1 deletes the target folder when your target format is pictures instead of video.
I used jpg to benchmark Starlight Mini and had several folders with jpg frames. When I closed the source video, all folders with jpgs were deleted. This is the behavior I expect for the temporary folders but not the targets.
Which service do you use? I’ve been trying to find a good GPU cloud platform to try for this.
Well….
That’s what I’m trying to determine…
And what exactly is a high-end system?
An Intel i5 12400F with an Nvidia 5070ti?
I can put something together like that for around $1700….. I would not exactly consider that a “high-end system” except the video card is good.
When a 5090 video card costs over $3000 alone…. The system I’m talking about sounds…”low end”
But who knows.
TL did Release Astra, a generative Cloud Model like Redefine for Video, on Social Media.
You cant force to spend everyone 3K$ on a GPU to get its Video Redefined/Upscaled and so on.
But i want my technology to stay at my room and not get into the hands of others.
Hello
I put together a complete AM5 platform budget computer with a GTX 5070 for €1,500, you can use something like that as second 24h Starlite PC …or as your main. This is just an example.
Everything is included, also necessary cables. I use the exact same case + power supply + fan for my second Sarlight 24h nonstop-runner, but I put my old mainboard in it and a used 3090-24GB
The small case has place for one 370mm lenght gpu (so yes 5090 fits in), there are 3 x 120 Front, 2 x 140 Roof (pushpull recommended) and 1 x 140 Rear high pressure PWN Fans. The Cooling airflow is absolutly great, the max pressure is double as high as Noctua and airflow also higher.
They are silent until about 1500rpm and when they turn to max (which should happen often) you have about a max of measured 45dB(A) when built all into the case…but main part comes from high Airflow/pressure and not fan itself, it is not an unpleasant noise. So yes it’s a from silent to loud anyway range but this fits my setup put the PC into seperate room closing the door ans it’s not that loud, I can’t hear it anymore and cooling has enough power for every hot summer day.
Note: If you plan to put the PC in your office must be anytime silent, you can limit the fans rpm or buy the slower Artic 1800 rpm fans instead the MAX edition with 3300/2800 rpm (as in my example) or something else, like the Noctua NF-P12/P14
Have Fun

Splitter adapter cable was wrong one, take this here
So this vendor is Cheaper, Ryzen 5 7600x for only €163.85 The 7600x is on level of a Intel 12700K
Maybe go to 850 Chipset, for a second pc you may not need additional PCie slots and features. If mATX works for you, then the GIGABYTE B850M DS3H is a Ryzen9000 ready Board with 16+2+2 Phase Digital VRM, so this is a hidden Gem for only 120 Euro!
Note: If you use GPU greater than 4090 or 5080, then a more powerfull CPU than AMD 7600X is recommendend, to prevent bottle necks.
Take care about Lane sharing and look into mainboards manual, there is described which slots are sharing lanes. Don’t use m2 slots that lowers gpu slot from X16 to X8.
Uses two Memory modul for Dual-Channel, don’t use 4x Modules on AM5 platform DDR5 Ram, because this is lowering Ram frequenzy speed.

I just upscaled a 960p source to 720p using Starlight Mini. Then I re-exported the clip using Rhea 1X.Then I re-exported Again the clip using Starlight Mini 1X .The Result in my opinion is amazing and very Cool.
Note: color correction & Perfect Skin Tones with DaVinci Resolve As desired .
