That’s interesting. After using up most of my hundred points for Video AI, my recollection was that I had 8 points remaining, not 10. I didn’t use photo AI or gigapixel AI enough to notice if I had anything free in those apps. If there was a number there I probably just assumed that it was the number of credits and didn’t have anything to do with free pictures.
So when this ‘10 credits remaining’ thing started to show up a couple of weeks ago on my Video AI screen, I thought that maybe I had misremembered having 8 points and that it must have been 10, instead.
Now I don’t know, and really don’t care. I just want this transition period to end and to get my 300 points in the new Topaz Video app and be done with it…
My Viedo AI licence expires very soon and I decided to cancel renewal despite price advantage. I was a reliable customer for over 3 years and thanks to Viedo AI I improved many low quality sources form 70, 80 and 90ties. Just tested starlight local rendering but at 0,9 speed using now 4070 super I would wait until retirement (8-10 f/s is a red line for me to get result within resonable timeframe). Imagine to process old series consisting of 5-7 seasons - it would take months to complete and I do not count initial deinterlacing with qtgmc etc. Cloud rendering of a big source is not an option as would be a disater for a wallet. If I am not able to keep what I paid or have to invest in 5090 to get resonable results I stay with old product for 2 yers and see where it goes and where is competition.
I think I need a cup of coffee! I read this and thought you were talking about a competing Italian product from a different company. Oh man, I’m losing it!
I need help with the transition to Topaz Studio please.
I got an email saying that I’m a “Founding Customer” because I own Topaz products (Currently have active subscriptions for Gigapixel and PhotoAI, previously had a subscription for Video AI).
The last email stated that my account is being transitioned. However, that was 12 days ago and I haven’t heard anything since. When I log into my account and go to the products page (https://topazlabs.com/my-account/downloads/), it shows that I own Studio 2, but when I try to download it, I get the following error:
<Error>

I don’t have any active renewals, as reading through the forums it has been very confusing whether these are needed or not since I already have two active licences and “Founding Customer” status and apparently already own Studio 2.
How can I get the Founding Customer discount and download Studio 2 to use it?
I’m a user. I can’t help you wrt getting the current Studio offering operating (which even though unnumbered is actually Topaz’s Studio #3!). Studio (yes, I know it’s confusing b/c it too was called Studio even though completely different!) and Studio 2 came before the current AI-based collection and before that the TL ‘host’ was PhotoFxLab.
Everyone says it’s taking time for the group at TL to get all those who are eligible transitioned to the new collection… I’m not there yet either. Nor, are many others who’ve written in above.
What you’re referring to (and seem to also own) is an older, legacy Topaz product (Studio 2) that hosts a large number of creative legacy filters and effects and looks. It has been EoL’d (end of life’d) and hasn’t been supported for years now. But it was wonderful! Theoretically, if your computer system is compatible, you should be able to re-download Studio 2 and enter your license key to activate it again (your license key should appear on your My Products page). But, again, it is not the current offering.
Good luck with the transition. You may want to contact TL Support directly to ping them for your status or find out if there’s an ETA for you getting access to the new product collection: Support@topazlabs.com
I have seen no emails about changes to Topaz Labs so am totally in the dark. I’ve been very displeased with Photo AI and don’t use it. I’m still using Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Sharpen as they work so much better than Photo AI ever did. I just paid $84 to Topaz to renew Photo AI (I was on vacation at the time and had no way to cancel then) and am only now finding out it is to be discontinued. I wish to discontinue all relationships with Topaz Labs and get my money refunded. How do I do that?
This forum is populated mostly by users who can’t help you with this. You’d be well-advised to contact Topaz Labs support directly for help with this situation.
I’m afraid I can’t help you with the cancellation but there is one thing to note as you already have an Topaz Photo AI Licence then the price you’re paying $84 will remain at that price as long as you maintain your Auto-Renewal Subscription basically, the price is fixed and it’s not going up anytime soon.
Also it’s worth noting, I see you very recently purchased Topaz Gigapixel, and I was thinking and this entirely up to you it might be worth having a word with Topaz Support and asking them, if there away that they might combine both Topaz Photo AI and Gigapixel so, you can get the full Topaz Studio which includes a bucket load of stuff and as I mentioned before the price is fixed and it’s not going up.
You mentioned, I’ve been very displeased with Photo AI and don’t use it. I’m still using Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Sharpen as they work so much better than Photo AI.
Would you be so kind, by posting some examples images with settings and explaining why this is the case as Topaz Photo AI and now Topaz Photo are clearly the superior products Advanced Features, Easy to use and Faster Processing because, from your statement something not right.
I’m sorry, I’m unable to dedicate an entire day to reading 1,110 posts on this topic. The complexity of this transition is so frustrating. I received an email notification regarding a change in my subscription to the “studio” tier as a “founding customer”. However, upon logging in, I am unable to locate any information related to the “studio” tier. In fact, the only available option is to create a new subscription at the retail price!
Could someone please provide me with a detailed explanation of this situation? I have noticed references to the need to purchase a secondary product to enable the “founder” price, but I am unable to locate where to make this purchase. All product pages now only display the subscription option.
This situation is highly frustrating, and it is likely that this is an area where Topaz should improve greatly!
It’s really simple. Just wait. They told us to migrate us to studio within five days now, two weeks later many of us still have to wait. I assume you’re one of us.thevtransition tonstudio was not well designed and tested by Topaz.
This is one strange rollout. I switched due to the promise of improved local use and the web apps , which sounded promising. But on my current plan (Studio, as grandfathered as I use Video and Photo AI), I cannot even use bloom in mire than 2x and would have to update to a €58/month plan, without even being able to first test it. So basically, it is of no use at all, as 2x is better done locally or with other AI-tools… and I will probably not use bloom often enough to it actually being worth over 600€/year. Wouldn’t it be much, much easier to open the apps up to three or two tiers of subscription and just sell cloud-credits, like everybody else is doing?
When logged in at topazlabs.com, click the small icon of a person’s head at the upper right to enter your account, and open “My Products.” What products are shown there and which one, two, or three apps displays an “Active” license? What dates are displayed there?
Similarly is anything shown under “Subscriptions”?
Your options may have dwindled. This needed quicker action from you. A couple of deadlines have passed.
I purchased Topaz Gigapixel several years ago when it was part of a bundled package with DeNoise and Sharpen. Tried it and didn’t see where it made any difference, so I haven’t used it since and deleted it from my apps.
I don’t have any examples as I deleted them and have deleted Photo AI from my apps. I take photos of birds. When I used DeNoise in Photo AI, it either didn’t remove all the noise or when I upped the strength would distort the bird. I didn’t see the same options to adjust DeNoise in Photo AI as I saw in DeNoise AI. I tried several different settings for Sharpening in Photo AI and unless the amount of sharpening needed was minimal, it distorted the bird, especially beaks, eyes, and feather tracts where there were sharp differences in color or the tracts were light or white. I also didn’t see the types of adjustment options for sharpening that Photo AI said was there. I did not find that Photo AI was easier to use or faster in processing (it was slower) and apparently I did not have access to at least some of the Advanced Features. I don’t learn how to use an app by watching videos; I need printed instructions (yes, I’m old). Updating Photo AI was also a trial as it would take several minutes and would not update in the background, unlike many other apps I have. I had to stop whatever processing I was doing and wait for the updates to download and install and I had to leave Photo AI open the entire time. That also meant I couldn’t work on other photos in Lightroom as I got the spinning wheel of death until Photo AI finished installing the update. Updates frequently failed as well.
I suggest you contact Topaz Customer Support and ask for a refund. I know the reason you want a refund is a little different, but I wouldn’t go into that with them. Tell them instead that you want a refund because they changed the terms of the deal by no longer providing a year of feature updates, which at the time of your renewal was supposed to be included. Tell them you’re not interested in any subscription software, even a free year of Studio Photo. Ask them to cancel your license to Photo AI and refund your money. They may be willing to at least give you a prorated refund for the unused portion of your license year. Let us know here how it goes.
