I’ve had an annual subscription for a few years now, have enjoyed seeing the improvements thru the years, but I’ve also seen the recourses needed to run the program also get more intense , I’ve really like the idea of Starlight mini, but I “only” use laptops and the expense of upgrading to a laptop with 8gb + GPU to run Starlight
out of my $ range , and I suspect 8gb isn’t gonna hack it anyway, and I just don’t / wont use “online” rendering options. I have a Mac Air? with the M1 but starlight doesn’t run on mac and if it does in the future the M1 probably wont hack it either. So combined with now financially my medical bills are taken its toll. So I have to opt out on Topaz video AI subscription and any new and upcoming changes. TVAI has always been a get away from the everyday world giving me something to look forward to at 68. I will say my old nature/ family videos from the early 1980s have improved in quality and are more enjoyable to watch now.
Thank you Topaz, it was a fun ride.
So a GUI version is planned for non-enterprise Linux users? Linux desktop is fairly mainstream now, especially now with AI. E.g. PewDiePie uses Arch Linux lol.
This goes from $200 perpetual license to $252 a year subscription
Are we allowed to keep the latest version of Topaz Photo that is released within the Active upgrade time window (1 year from the purchase date), now that Topaz Photo AI is no longer maintained? So if you release a Topaz Photo 1.1 on my last day of <purchase date + 1 year>, can I keep 1.1 afterward, or do I get stuck with Photo AI v9.9.9 ?
Firstly, the renewal price for Photo AI is $99 so, if you set your license subscription to Auto-Renewal this should go down and that will be your new renewal price going forward for as long as you maintain an active Auto-Renewal Subscription
Secondly, the answer is No you won’t get to keep the final version you were using when your subscription expires hence, the special deal
I have/use Gigapixel and Video AI, both are set to renew on December: Total of $181 founder price.
Does that mean that I will have access to Studio even if a regular studio subscription is set to $399 yearly? As long as keep those two in auto renew at $181?
Also question, what does it say up in the transition page upper-right corner I have 10 days left is I’m qualifying for this?
I am not (yet) familiar with this description, but that must be the 10 credits that can be invested in the use of a cloud model. Anything beyond that must be paid for by the user.
And yes, if you remain active, you will receive the studio versions for your money.
On no it’s not that, because further down it says I have 190 something credits, and when you click on the “Upgrade” button the monthly/yearly plans pop up.
Ah, I posted the image under the understanding anyone could see that on the transition, not trying to stir up things or anything.
I Thin it’s very expensive yes, but if I were a new customer I would simply not pay it, as I don’t pay other subscriptions.
I guess it’s nice we are getting the change to try this at the subscription price we pay now. Nowadays, there are plenty of websites that might be even cheaper to use for the same things and surely cheaper because most work on credits, which is something else I don’t understand: Is people expected to pay a subscription and also buy credits? Or subscriptions have unlimited generations?
I think that the biggest problem for companies is not having options, I think there must be options you either subscribe and have unlimited credits, or not and spend on credits. Is what it is? There are so many pages to read in this article :).
I guess we will see.
$399 a year for new subscribers! That’s not just a little bit funny.
My thoughts go back to one of my previous posts where I was talking about what would happen if you as a subscriber to the new Studio suddenly run into a temporary financial snag changing your priorities regarding what you spend on.
You’ve been (decently) comfortable paying those… What was it? $160-something as a founder. You have to drop out a bit for whatever kind of financial reason, and when you get back on your feet and start thinking about returning to Topaz you have not only been without photo editing since you dropped out, you also have to pull $399 out of your hat, only to return to a non-founder status.
9.9.9 displaying is a bug, we’re fixing that in a patch shortly. We needed a way to preserve upgrade paths for all desktop apps but it wasn’t supposed to display in the UI.
@dakota.wixom Am I missing something in this free upgrade email & announcement? Because I’m still not being able to access this subscription model platform that Topaz Labs is promoting. As you can see in my screenshots below.
As a beta tester, you probably know this is a public user forum. Do you feel comfortable posting those pages (some with personal info included)? Ange, in TL Spt, has replied (above) that it could take a few days before everyone is activated who is eligible.
I’m away from my computer on a business trip next week (22-26) and worry that I’ll miss some time sensitive step they expect me to do in terms of activating Studio during that time period.
I now see that there are two different Studio models: Studio and Studio Pro. What about the Video AI Pro models like Starlight Sharp? I got an upgrade through the beta test? Do we also get the Pro models through the free upgrade? If not, how does that work? I canceled Video AI because I was told two subscriptions were enough. Do I no longer have permanent access to the Pro models?
Yes, you still get access to the Pro Models that are available within all applications including Topaz Video for as long as you maintain your Auto-Renewal Subscription
