We’re still in process here
It’s still the 16th in Dallas, my friend
My error - I forgot the US is behind Australia.
Do I have to have the current release versions of the products installed for the transfer to go ahead? (I currently have only the betas of TPAI and GPAI installed)
Yes, the posts were in the Beta Forum (which I didn’t notice since I was going through the recent changes list and not through the single forums) - but they didn’t really have anything to do with Topaz Beta software.
It was an answer from two posters to my question if anyone had experience with Topaz apps under the Tahoe Beta and both told that the soon-to-be-legacy apps from Tooaz work fine under the current MacOS Beta of the upcoming OS26 (terrible naming btw.)
I have run the betas of both TPAI and GPAI since Tahoe (sic) was officially released yesterday. No issues so far.
My sense was that you have to own Active licenses (vs expired) and not that they have to be installed on your system. Especially since it sounds like there should be a ‘firewall’ to separate the perpetual & subscription products.
But, Dakota or Ange are best to clarify.
It’s all a mystery. Do the new versions just start downloading to our computers? Or do we have to be more pro-active? I have had no email yet, despite ensuring that auto-renew is activated for both TPAI and GPAI.
From the comments above it sounds like an either or situation in which some people may just get whatever & others will have to manually download & install.
Also sounds like notification emails could be phased.
This is all more “exciting” than the recent billion $ SuperLotto!
But maybe not as predictable.
I came to Topaz originally after working with open source AI tools, to extend those creative workflows.
I was looking forward to kicking Windows to the curb and switching back to Linux desktop. But looks like Topaz will be the only popular AI tool I want to use that won’t be compatible with the standard AI ecosystem.
I’d understand if it was just a development priorities/resources issue. Just very disappointing to know that there are Linux builds available and being maintained, but will only be available for enterprise customers.
So, do we need to download a new app? This Topaz Studio upgrade is quite confusing. The term “free” and access to other applications are very vague. Every click I make seems to indicate that I still need to upgrade and pay for it, even though I currently subscribe and pay for Gigapixel and Photo AI. So, what is technically free? My iOS app doesn’t work. When I try to use any of your upscalers for photos through the web apps, it tells me I only have 10 free upgrades/upscales. The reason I canceled that subscription was because the email stated that I would have free access to those upscalers through the web apps. However, before this new announcement, you already provided a free account for new members that gained 10 uses on the app/web app to upscale photos, sharpen, or Bloom before this studio Topaz Studio model. That’s how I understood it, but I believe a more detailed description of this Topaz Studio Apps subscription-based model is needed. It should clearly outline what we have to pay for if we already have two subscriptions (like myself). What is free? Is the thought of accessing a web portal just to be grandfathered in for the older prices? Because in my opinion, technically that’s not something that’s very appealing as a free perk or something we gain out of a service. I think the term “free” and access to these other applications with active dual subscriptions currently is very misleading. Is that the free part? I just want more clarification on what this new studio subscription model gives me access to currently. When meeting the criteria of Photo AI & Gigapixel AI yearly subscriptions prior to this announcement, it seems like nothing has changed for me; I still have to pay for everything. Please explain.
If I cancel my subscription and just stick to my perpetual licences, will I then get maintanance updates for life or just for as long as they have an active status?
Thank you, kiprode. A good lead!
No, but if you install the release versions it will give you a link to download. Not necessary, you can stay on the current version.
That is correct, yeah. You just don’t have to have the latest version installed on your machine per se, but you must own it with an Active license, not expired for it to count towards your studio product transition setup
Well, some of these builds have no GUI at all. It’s not officially supported yet
Sure, you’ll get maintenance updates for the perpetual license, but you’ll lose access to the Studio apps if your subscription expires.
I understand that I’ll lose access to the Studio apps, but that wasn’t my question. For how long are the maintanance updates valid? For as long as you keep updating them (i.e. for life), or will I stop receiving maintanance updates when my active status runs out (witch in my case will be at the end of this year)?
No GUI would be fine ![]()
Staff did answer you; & there’s no such thing as “for life” when it comes to software; & just remember, “maintenance updates” is very subjective.
It applies to all three products!
