Thomas, is correct your Auto-Renewal Subscription is already Active for all three applications Topaz Photo Gigapixel and Video so, no worries there.
If you’re concerned about the payments for all three expiring on different dates it doesn’t matter because, Topaz will continue to take the money as they have always done so, if Gigapixel expires first they’ll take that money first then, Photo and Video will follow when they also expire.
Also, your payment history is available on both the old and new Accounts pages.
PC100 is correct, if you allow your full Auto-Renewal Subscriptions to lapse then, you will indeed loose the Founders pricing and if you resubscribe you’ll have to pay the full Subscription price.
However, if you currently have three active Auto-Renewal Subscriptions for Topaz Photo, Gigapixel and Topaz Video, and you allow one of those three Subscribers to lapse you will still retain the Special Founders pricing for the other two and the price will be adjusted accordingly for which, ever ones you decide to keep and with the promise the price is locked in.
If on the other hand you decide to let two Subscriptions to lapse living you with just one active Auto-Renewal Subscription then, you will retain the Founders pricing for that one application and again the price will be locked in.
Hallo guten Tag,
Just another company trying to rip people off with annual subscriptions because their software alrerady does everything people need and so they struggle to sell new licences. $168 per YEAR to use your software??? When i can buy other tools that do exactly the same for half that as a one-off payment? I think not - i alrrady ditched Adobe due to their subscription model and have never regretted it
There was talk of doing something for Intel Mac users previous but, as I don’t work for Topaz or have a Mac myself I couldn’t tell you how far that’s got but be assured it won’t be immediately by any stretch of the imagination.
Hi, I’m totally confused! I OWN (via a single payment) a copy of “Topaz Photo AI”, which I run purely off my laptop harddrive. I do not want or need a Web based solution nor to pay monthly/annual subscriptions. Please provide a simple explanation / clarification that I will be able to continue using this? From what I can gather if I start using “Studio” I will be subject to an annual payment? Many Thanks Dave
The “Legacy Apps” section at the bottom of the downloads page allows you to download the previous versions of the software where you could pay one time and use forever (but they won’t receive any more updates).
These apps all have “AI” on the end, ie. “Photo AI” and “Gigapixel AI.” You can have both the new/current “Gigapixel” and “Gigapixel AI” app installed on your desktop. However, when your subscription ends, I believe you will no longer be able to use new “Gigapixel” - but you can use “Gigapixel AI” to the best of my knowledge. I’m not sure if you get the legacy apps with a new Studio subscription or not, you likely needed to have purchased them before (which you did).
Unless I’m completely mistaken…but if you did for some reason lose access to the “legacy app,” that would be illegal. It would break the terms under which you purchased the “Photo AI” app. You are entitled to that application (now referred to as “legacy”) to run in perpetuity without future updates. A fairly common pricing strategy for software that sees major updates (in this case likely new or enhanced AI models, etc.) where the company needs to drive revenue to sustain such updates. One time forever licenses are hard with frequent or major updates.
So you can continue to run “Topaz Photo AI” off your laptop no problem. You do not need to purchase Studio, but yes you would have to pay a recurring subscription fee for Studio if you wanted to use the newer versions of the apps. That can be annually or monthly.
The Applications you own namely Topaz Photo AI is yours to keep however, Topaz have decided they will no longer going to be developing Topaz Photo AI and as a result Topaz are allowing you to use the new Topaz Photo until your current Licence Expires unless you decide otherwise and continue to use the new Topaz Photo with a subscription your choice.
Thanks! So I guess my choice is to either let PhotoAI lapse, but then as it rolls around I have to pay full update price for Giga+Video (with Video being quite a bit more expensive than the others), or I also pay for PhotoAi that expires in a few days, and let videoAI laps, as in the long term that would be cheaper. Does that sound about right? What about this talk of a cap of 164 per year? I am already past that so am I missing something?
The account page still just says “Pending Studio Transition” and attempting to use Starlight locally in the Topaz Video app does not work. What’s the deal?
Just looked at the screenshot you posted and you purchased Topaz Gigapixel AI September 30th which is four days after the deadline which is strange in itself which I’m afraid to say leaves things even more confusing.
Because, you have active Auto-Renewal Subscriptions for all three applications so, does that mean you have the full Founders Topaz Studio for all three applications
I can’t see your Founders Topaz Studio information about so, please check this link and let me know what it says thank you

If, you wish to talk to Topaz Support here’s the link to contact Topaz Support directly
Thank you, I have opened a message with them. Hopefully I get a response soon. It still says Pending Studio Transition. I had an active VideoAI subscription already, and of course the other products purchased before the 16th as well, but I updated the other subscriptions yesterday. This was because I was not aware of this until the 29th when Topaz sent me an email that my account transition is complete. I quote (again from the 29th, 13 days after what at least seems to be the deadline for buying NEW products perpetual): " You’re receiving this email because one of your orders was automatically upgraded to the Studio version of that application. You don’t currently have full access to the Studio bundle, which requires you to own 2+ active licenses to Topaz Labs desktop products, but there’s still time!" Also, when I click learn more on th e “pending studio transition”, I get this, which looks promising: " We’re making this launch special for our founding customers. Because you own active licenses on 2 or more apps, you’ll get access to new versions of your apps, new pro-only models, an all-new app, and even unlimited cloud rendering for images—all at no extra cost. Check out the details below.
Just keep your current licenses active to get these perks."
Nicely played Eric. You just managed to squeeze another $80 out of me, since I noticed my Gigapixel subscription had lapsed
Looking forward to seeing some renewed life in my favorite image upscale tool, which your post hints at. Been a bit quiet on that front since the Recover and ReDefine models were released.
Good to hear things are working out for you and I’ve just seen a reply from Topaz Support that states the deadline has been extended until October 3rd which sounds like good news around
It’s so confusing and weird, I was on vacation for two weeks and missed this whole post, one renewal had lapsed earlier this year after being a user for many years, now I’m randomly locked out of being a “full” founder? I got the email with 3rd of October but it’s absolutely not clear to me if that will only add Video to my Topaz Studio or if it will give me founders access to Video with local Starlight access.
Confusing is an understatement, if you only have at this present time Topaz Video AI on an active Auto-Renewal Subscription then you will receive the Studio version of that application, now I’m not a video person so, I’ll give you the information to contact Topaz Support at the end to make doubly sure.
But, as I understand it as you already own Topaz Video AI then, you will indeed have access to Starlight local rendering on your computer.
If on the other hand, you haven’t got Topaz Video AI but, you do have two qualifying applications then, Starlight is cloud only.
In light of that, the current deadline ends on October 3rd so, there’s still time if you wanted to gain access to the full Founders Topaz Studio which includes seven applications and a whole load of extras all you need is two applications with current Auto-Renewal Subscriptions to qualify.
What is the annual price for founding customers if I own two active licenses for the full Topaz Studio? As of now I have Topaz Photo AI with the annual discount price of $84/year.
