Topaz Studio | Message from the CEO

Which app are you using - Gigapixel or Photo? I have both of them and have loaded the Studio versions, but have not used them. (I mainly play with video.) But I’d be willing to take a look and see if I can help.

(It would be nice if someone who knows the answer could jump in and answer off the top of there head, though… :wink:)

I’m currently experimenting with Bloom and I don’t see how could specify cloud versus local rendering.

In the settings, you can choose whether you want to use cloud rendering or whether this option should not be displayed in the toolbar at all.

If the settings specify that cloud rendering should be displayed, you can select in the toolbar whether you want to render locally or in the cloud. However, with “Wonder”, this is only possible via the cloud. The two buttons are located next to each other or one above the other.

Bloom is web-based. There is no local render capability.

I’m stuck in an infinite loop prompting me to install an update, over and over and over.

You really think I’m going to pay over $1000/yr for multi-GPU support when you can’t get basic functionality working?

BTW, I was a founder and have the email. I used to have multi-GPU support in your older version and now I don’t?

Hi @eric, I purchased topaz gigapixel last year and have found it incredibly helpful. Owning a small freelance business I had been saving up to buy the Video Ai model as well. When I went on the website today and found only the video Subscription I was disappointed but purchased as I need it for a project. I had not heard or seen anything about the payment model change previosuly and found this page after my purchase (and was just a few hours past the deadline). I was wondering if it might be possible, as i am a founding member if, you might be able to convert my subscription into a perpetual license? I am aware this is a long shot, but If you could assist in any way i would be extremely appreciative.

totallly not clear from the email (or my account) what or why I’m supposed to act so fast to get some special license as a founder.. From what sounds like from others, the upgrade to the new gigapixel gives them nothing except a new charge? My current version is working. This whole process is making me back away vs sounding like something I want to do. Def not explained well in either email or here

wait a sec… we now have to buy ALL the apps for minimum of $37 a month??? I don’t want all the apps. Have no use for anything except Gigapixel. I’m sure this can’t be right, but this is where all the links in my email and my account take me.. to a page with a “All apps in one” bundle.

Where is the REAL information we can find and what am I supposed to do when the time comes, in my account. This is so unclear I hate to say. Happy to pay a subscription but make it much easier than this guys to know what’s going on.

Clicked my account from the email and was put in a cloudflare holding pen. Ridiculous I have to wait to get into my own account. How can you manage cloud rendering if we have to wait to even get into our accounts for 8 minutes? LOL

This is completely unacceptable. I bought software not a subscription. Refund my purchase price than if you aren’t supporting the old software anymore. What an absolute scam.

Hi, Eric. I only just now saw the announcement post with perpetual links. Looks like I missed out on that. I’m assuming those perpetual prices would include updates to the new studio versions?

The bigger question I have is whether Founder pricing will still be available if a user lets their subscription lapse? If a user cancels, then later re-subscribes, will the Founder pricing still apply?

I am saddened by Topaz’ decision to follow the subscription model that seems to be sweeping the industry. I for one, will not be paying a subscription. When my current software titles are no longer working for me, I will find alternatives. I MAY have to pay a subscription in the future as ALL the publishers may be on that model, but for now, I will remain subscription free.

I was a faithful user of PS Elements and was going to upgrade with a new version last fall, but Adobe has put that on a subscription as well, going to the extreme of after your three year license expires, your software DOES NOT WORK any longer, not just doesn’t update. I moved to another software title with a “buy once” license.

I’m totally confused on this upgrade. I never received anything concerning Topaz Studio, just to upgrade when I opened the software to use it. If I understand it right, since I upgraded to Studio I’m going to have to pay a subscription fee once my license expires you will automatically charge me for Topaz Studio? I only have one active license presently which is Topaz Ai. I was not able to meet the 26th deadline as I was on a military Honor Flight and no computer access.

I would truly like you to explain this a little better.

If I rollback to Topaz Ai that I had before installing Studio will I have to pay something again.

Please explain a little more clearly how this is going to work

Just randomly came across this. I was planning to renewal my current topaz licence in 2 months. Previously had bought it (gigapixel, video ai and photo) but updates have expired. So now that this change of subscription has been made sadly. I’m confused about some things:
-how can I get founder status price?
-Whats up with last call purchases of 26 setember? That was only for people who haven’t bought previously a existing license?
I can still renewal in my profile each program with their previous prices. But what does that mean, it is only to 8.4 version? I simply don’t get it.

Yes, I’m confused too. I have Active VideoAI, but not PhotoAi, and it looks like I can still activate that for ~100, but not sure what this gives… I also have an inactive Gigapixel, so not sure if it is better to upgrade that rather than PhotoAI as it is cheaper, but I don’t want to end up losing access to PhotoAI at some point.

I’m also confused and the website had some issues for me today. Purchased PhotoAI, Gigapixel, Render Plan, Bloom, and Astra all this year (and more).

Edit: I figured it out. WOW confusing. No invoice/charge for the Studio subscription yet - now I get it. It just indicates that it will renew at the founder price next cycle. Cool. I thought I paid for all those apps and then Studio again on top of it all a few months later. So if anyone else sees in their account the Studio subscription just look carefully at the dates. That’s how I realized it wasn’t yet a charge.

Curious what will become of the “Render Plan” I also purchased. I guess that’s gone now and is just folded into the new Studio (the parts about unlimited local/cloud rendering)? So… that was like $90 for nothing? :man_shrugging: I guess the founder discount makes up for it.

BTW, for anyone at Topaz who cares, you can still go to the product page for the render plan and it seems like you might be able to pay for it. The page looks pretty bad though without styles and all (and SKU says “N/A”), but the payment links are all there (no I didn’t try paying again lol). The product page is linked from the subscription details page in your account section.

Can I at least get like the higher resolution (100MP) on Bloom or something? :grinning_face:

After revisiting my post here and figuring it all out, the web site is still funky but it’s starting to load. I think there was a Cloudflare issue.

Ok I bit the bullet on gigapixel, and it somehow seemed to add in photoai in the mix too, with a price of 69 for those (it still says photoai will expire in october sometime THIS year which is confusing), while gigapixel is good for a year. My videoai was already active and will be until next July or so. My question though is how do I enable AUTO renew? I am not finding the option ANYWHERE (old account or new account). Should I cancel PhotoAI or VideoAI? It is unclear to me what this $164 cap is, as of right now, I have paid 161.29 for VideoAI (In July) and 69.28 for Gigapixel (today), and it says my PhotoAI expires in 7 day, with a total listed for $107.17. So I have already paid roughly $230 so far this year, which COULD go to roughly $340?

You can try the old account site. https://topazlabs.com/my-account/ It has a different view and more dates in there; start date, last payment, end date, etc. Maybe that might help. I think the auto renew is on already? … On that old site you should see subscription notes for each of the subscriptions (under the subscriptions section) that they have been canceled due to a new subscription for the same product, etc.
