I started these apps 3 times each and here are the timings. I did not start the same app consecutively. I started it, closed it, started a different app, closed it, etc.

Photo 1.0.2: 7s, 2s, 2s
Gigapixel 1.0.4: 3s, 1s, 1s
Photo AI 4.0.4: 2s, 2s, 2s
Gigapixel AI 8.4.4: 1s, 1s, 1s

Photo and Gigapixel start up slow the first time they have not been run for awhile and then get faster on later starts. Photo is very slow the first time. After Photo has not been started for a long while and without rebooting though it then starts up slow again. I haven’t noticed any other pattern though. I am sure your software people can fix it though.

Yesterday was an issue on Cloudflare. Topaz was also affected by this.

After Cloudflare has fixed the problems it has been worked.

Can you explain what you mean by a clean install? I downloaded the install file up above in this thread and installed it.

@Lingyu Installed and working 100% right away, seems like a great update in terms of processing speed when saving the final jpeg (subjectively, never measured).
The new “Wildlife Model” seems a bit more aggressive than “Natural”, need to play with the slider to not oversharpen the image (creating artifacts) but that could be my own screen and eyes.
Overall, very pleased with this update, thank you!

CLOUD processing STILL does not work !!! Super Focus or Wonder . When will this be fixed !!!

Same error message as before

lastSession.json (124 Bytes)

Apparently there was an issue with CloudFlare which has been resolved. By “clean” install I mean trashing not just the application but all remaining elements such a .plist files. There should be a tutorial about this in Learning section. If not then contact Topaz via help menu. Since the CloudFlare issue has been resolved then downloading the pkg or .dmg for mac or the .exe for pc and running an instal may solve your issue if you’re still having problems.

The CloudFlare issue involved not being able to download models so it may or may not apply to you.

That is correct, On first time opening temp model files are set and to allow for the next times opened will be faster. All seems correct here.

I am confused. I have not had any problems about downloading files.

@david.counts clean installs would not be recommended unles requested for support purposes, as you would be starting from scratch and reinstalling the bulk of initial models, which will take a long time. Best to just upgrade, and if issues occur we may ask for a clean install.

The install issues experienced yesterday were because of Cloudflare outage, and a fresh install would not of resolved this. The outage is over and update installs is back up working.

Do you truly mean that every time I start Photo after a few hours of not using it then there will be a long delay? Why didn’t this happen with Photo AI?

Please reread what I wrote:

I just now started Photo and this time it took 11 seconds. It has been a few hours since the earlier starts in my post above.

The web team pushed updates on the cloud over the last few weeks that fixed some issues, however for remaining issues it seems to be related to:

  1. Incorrect file type. Example for Wonder, it’s a recovery repair model for low resolution files. For Super Focus its for missed focus files.
  2. We also see cases going above size limit (128MP) for input size and the development team is looking to add a warning.
  3. Servers can have outages, which happened most of yesterday and the day before, due to a Cloudflare outage, which has now been fixed.

Send details on the specific images failing to support@topazlabs.com and we can relay details on your specific images to see what is happening.

Thanks for this. The 11 seconds was not in your original message. Photo has more AI models and could be longer to start up then Gigapixel, yes. I’ve shared your times to the development team and they can look at what is possible to optimize startup.

I suggest you reread both of my messages again so that you will understand. I get the feeling you are just skimming them without understanding. Thank you.

By chance, are you AI or are you a real person?

I am a very real person and have read all your messages. The new apps have very memory intensive generative models compared to the older apps and will take up more time to open. The Initial startup for all apps will take some time, to unpack temp models files, which will make next session opened in a short timeframe load up faster. Topaz Photo having more models, if compared to Topaz Gigapixel will be longer to open.

The 11 seconds seems too long (that 11 seconds was not in your initial times sent) and I’ve relayed to the development team to look into optimizing the app startups, for both Topaz Photo and Topaz Gigapixel.

@marcelo.cinicola - Glad to hear! I will relay to Lingyu and the development team this feedback about it being a bit too aggressive on default settings.

If you have a specific example you can share, you can send the before and after results (before your tweaks, when you find it’s default too aggressive) to support@topazlabs.com (or DM) and we can send it to the development team to help fine-tune the beta model! The goal is to sharpen without looking artificial and having examples of cases where its too agressive would be great.

What is the the recommended processing order for these 3 steps? As per my suggestion?

  1. Raw Denoise (with cropping)
  2. Upscale
  3. Wonder

And is Raw Denoise necessary when I want to run Wonder? If not, how can I then perform the cropping and upscale?

I am relieved that although Topaz is an AI company you are not using AI to reply on these forums.

I asked this a few minutes ago and I hope you will answer and clarify:

Are you able to answer that question in order to be more clear? Thank you.

Yesterday when I timed Photo it took 7 seconds, today 11 seconds, the day before yesterday I didn’t time it but it took several seconds, and tomorrow who knows? I never said it always takes exactly the same number of seconds. What I wrote in my first post was this:

Thank you.

Temps models that were deployed in your prior sessions could of been erased, yes. It is hard to say, as we are talking about a 4 second difference here. Example on my computer now opening Photo AI the app is 4 seconds from click to opened, and Topaz Photo Studio 5 seconds. Both were used recently. The apps are memory intensive apps and can take time to open as they need to deploy temp models. These are temporary deployed models to accelerate them once/if invoked. These will be deleted with time as they are temp files.

All the opening times you reported were relayed to the development team and they can look into optimizing the app further. Thanks for flagging.

Hi Ange, will try later today as soon as I get a moment and revert with the examples. It’s subtle, but my 6K screen is very revealing and may not be the same accross the table…
EDIT: just emailed you and support the examples.
