Does this warning still apply?

If you have a Mac or Windows with non-NVIDIA 50 series graphic card, you can skip this update.

@andymagee-52287 - Good question! This warning was for v4.0.2 specifically, make sure to be on this v4.0.3 as it will address batch processing issues for both Mac/Windows, and plugin issues for Mac.

Sorry I’m still having problems with 4.0.3, the same ones with 4.0.2. I’m finding 4.0.1 working best. Apple Photos, Mac Studio M3 Ultra, 96Gb ram, 1Tb Storage.

Version 4.01 funktioniert ohne Probleme!

I’m not sure if it’s worth installing the update. The change log is relatively short considering the long time since the last update and it does contains only issues that I never seen on my system.

My serious problem is the lack of support for RAW files on the DJI mini 4 Pro and missing EXIFs I’ll work with this RAWs/DNGs in the Lightroom plugin .
I’ll hope it will be fixed soon.

Underwhelming for sure - a very long wait for very little at first sight -----
Disappointing !!!

I installed the update. During the installation process, it stopped briefly and offered to close my Opera browser or restart my computer later because it needed to update files. What does Topaz Photo AI have to do with my browser?

Have the models been updated? Going from 4.0.1 to 4.0.3, it downloaded an additional 5.44 GB for the models.

I noticed that too. I suspect is has more to do with fixing the UI interface issues listed above than any substantive improvements in the model functionality itself.

Hum hum  I see.

VERY long wait for VERY little in return. I am wondering on why the pace of updates for PhotoAI has slowed down considerably over the last few months, in contrast to the earlier times. Is PhotoAI is a much lower priority to Topaz now compared with other products? What’s going on?

I’m not a Topaz apologist, but given that the last update which was just supposed to fix the Nvidia 50XX issues also broke batch processing and the LR plugin, maybe some of this time was spent cleaning up the codebase and/or in-house operational testing. It won’t look like much on our end but it could prevent roll-back-to-the-previous-version being the official fix for future releases.

@daniel.brovont
Can you send to support@topazlabs.com screenshots of the remaining issues you have with Apple Photos and your logs? Steps here. We can have a look at what is still happening! Even if you are back on v4.0.1 the logs will be already written and we can have a look.

@Fotodrops - this thumbnail issue will occur on some TIFF files mostly (not all) and the development team is investigating what can be causing this. You can revert to v4.0.1 and we can contact you once it’s fixed.

@Harald.De.Luca - This release is an important patch for a lot of users and not a release of any new features. The batch processing issue introduced in v4.0.2 was related to an update on denoise detection models, and it caused issues when processing batches, which affected multiple hundreds of users. The fix for this took time to fully implement and needed to be thouroughly looked into and tested to make sure it was completely fixed for both Mac and Windows, and from reports we are getting back from these users, it is. This affected all users on the RTX 5000 cards (preventing them to have a working version for Sharpen Standard AI Model and Denoise Strong on any versions) + affected all users doing batches (not on RTX cards necessarily) on Win and Mac, and was a very high priority to fix. The Denoise model was updated to reflect this fix and with small UI updates for login and then both plugin files for Capture One and Apple Photos had updates to fix roundtrip issues - This will add up to the 5GB of files that were replaced when installing this patch.

Win 11 Pro (desktop) PC. Standalone. Processor = NVIDIA 5090. Public Network = 300 Mbps/symmetrical.

  • Uninstalled PAI beta.

  • Installed PAI 4.0.3 update - Installer run time = 6 minutes.

  • Tried a sample single image to ensure launch/processing. Standalone. Then checked Help menu → Logs file. I’m now seeing Logs generated again - which they weren’t doing in either of the recent betas.

  • Tried sending image from Ps 2025 (File > Automate) to plugin. Image launched/processed okay. I was so excited to see the ‘Save to Ps’ back down at lower right again (so I didn’t accidentally click to create a preset when going to an intuitive place to export back to Ps). Yay! Thank you! :+1: Image saved back quickly.

I don’t batch process so can’t comment on those Changelog related developments.

@Fotomaker - Great! Glad the logs issues is also solved at same time for you! Will be useful if we need logs in future. Batch would be for any processes with more then 1 file (so not from PS). Thanks for the test and confirmation all is good on the PS side!

Edit your RAW in LR, then save it as 16 bit TIFF and just let PAI work on the sharpen and denoise.

This isn’t really a alternative, because I use PAI for upscaling and this should be done before doing the appropriate editings.

I have been writing here for over a year asking to fix the problem of freckles in photos that appear when using the Recovery Face, but clearly no one wants to listen to me((((. It’s sad!
