Continue to look for the apple photos plugin to save as a raw file instead of Tiff, now JPEG.

All Apple Photos plugins (including Photo AI) save files back as JPEG. Apple Photos does not allow a plugin to save back a RAW file. The TIF extension showing is a bug, it will be a JPEG.

After updating to 3.1.2 PAI freezes on start with a white screen and becomes unresponsive

Please clear the registry for Photo AI with instructions below and see if that fixes the white screen issue.

Is there a reason why photos shot in “portrait” orientation shows up as rotated in the film strip?

I added an issue for this so we can reproduce and fix it.

V3.1.2 - Having rolled back to 3.1.0 as 3.1.1 froze on the opening page

Could you try the registry deletion steps as well? Delete registry for Topaz Labs applications

Since the latest update to version 3.1.2, Photoshop action commands are no longer functioning. When I attempt the tasks manually without using actions, everything works perfectly. In version 3.1.0, everything functions smoothly.
