The most new interresting part on the EOS R1 is its AF.
I’m a bit disapointed by canon.
The R5II does only 1/8000 sec max.
The R1 has a neural network for enlarging jpegs … jpegs yea … 8bit.
No 16bit RAW images.

Yeah, Radiant Photo is a great addition to my workflow.
I’ve been with them a bit over a year now, and before that I used Perfectly Clear that comes with Aftershot Pro which I used before I got around to set up a Windows VM with GPU Passthrough in Linux Mint.
With the type of processing I do I usually pass the exported result from PAI through Radiant Photo as a final touch, and it usually comes out great. I do have to pull it back a bit once in a while, but that is on very rare occasions.
(Sorry - quoted/replied to the wrong post - I intended to reply to @lhkjacky but since it kind of stays relevant replying to you as wellI’m not gonna remove/repost

I’ve been very pleased with v3.1.0. This is the very first ‘crash’ I’ve experienced in a great while. It’s probably a fluke, but nonetheless, I’d like you to have the data I can gather. This pic:
…caused an immediate crash just after loading. Debug data (all I could get) below:

Just a report, not a complaint.
Steve
I have the same problem with having to click a bit above the real buttons.
I tried Radiant Photo a while back but I found ON1 Photoraw 2024 to cost less and is more powerful. Some features are redundant to Topaz PAI such as AI noise reduction and sharpening. I still use Affinity Photo a lot. My workflow is PAI > Luminar NEO > Affinity photo (also used to reduce pictures to 1100px on long side for posting).
I write about Topaz and other apps such as ON1 and Radiant on my blog. I feel Topaz is best in class for the core functionality it offers. For effective color correction or creative effects, you need the others.
I’ll need to publish a smackdown comparing the common features among them (I’ve posted some casual hints via screenshots here in the past)! I already know Photo AI and Gigapixel (especially now that the latter offers Recovery) do the best upscaling, for example.
I’ve used Topaz apps since they first came on the scene about 2007, ON1 products since they were Extensis in the '90s and Radiant Photo since before it was first released.
Thats a cost effective workflow.
Do you create composites or do pixel level changes? Wondering if your workflow handles a lot of that.
My workflow can handle everything but I also have ON1 Photoraw 2024. I don’t do composites though I have done a few in the past. This year I have stopped photography and started doing AI art. I usually post on Luminar Insider forum and Flickr. Luminar NEO is good for creating excellent balanced pictures with special effects too. sorry, can’t read all the posts
Well, those are cool digital art! Wow. Love the textures in the “water”.
They lumi the green and yellow. It brighten the shadows and midtones a little. You can do it yourself.
So Topaz got their act together and everything appeared to work fine with Lightroom Classic, now again another issue, with 3.1 all JPEGs processed Via LrC since this was downloaded now have square artifacts mostly on the background, the saved Tiff files do not. Do you not test the bloody program prior to release, I note nearly every Bug reported simply says “being investigated”, do programers actually resolve these bugs.
When you only do upscale, try Gigapixel AI.
Or when you do videos try Video AI.
Both have pro functions now that are targeted at at professional users.
There is no pro version for TPAI now and resolve is a video editing software, that does work a lot different than GPAI, TVAI and TPAI
That might be, but can you get that done with 100+ photos in less than 5 minutes and be decently happy with the end result?
Obviously a lot of people “do it themselves” (and probably with even better results). But that usually also mean that they process each photo one by one adjusting it differently depending on what kind of work they do, meaning a lot more than 5 minutes spent on a shoot.
But it is also probably true that a lot of people appreciates an app where you basically just drop a folder on it, click process and out comes a result they are happy with, which in essence probably is the same as many of us expect PAI to do. (AI and Auto and all that).
Me I’m far from a pro with regards to raw processing and photo editing, and if I were to show a 100 professionals the “out” result of my 150-200 photos batch job that I process every Sunday afternoon to be delivered later a lot of them would probably just tell me to stop wasting their time.
But - The recipient and the viewers of that batch are happy with what they get, so I keep on dropping that folder onto first PAI where I (after having learned to dial back the defaults of both NR and Sharpen in the app preferences) I move on with the rest of my life while waiting for the job to finish after which I do the same with Radiant Photo.
I then just do a final culling, I upload the result to a shared cloud folder, send a notification to all parties and in very little actual time spent sitting in front of the computer I walk away and forget all about it.
Recipients and viewers happy with the result, wife and kids happy with less time spent away from the family. Win-win.
Those software that do the tone mapping, templates, actions, etc are not good at all. Horrible looking HDR effect photos. For mass commercial photos I get it. Its quality vs quantity.
And even so Perfectly Clear - that is basically the origin of Radiant Photo got it’s fair share of praise back in the day… ![]()
I guess each to their own. After all it’s just a matter of perspective.
I think you have written to the wrong person.
I am a user. Not Topaz staff.
And, I work only with Ps.
Object removal no longer functioning on Win 11 & Lightroom 6.1.
If used via File - Plug-In Extras on Nikon NEF source file, appears to run for 8-10 seconds, then stops, and, a few seconds later, Photo AI spontaneously closes with no changes made.
If used via Photo-Edit In on (TIF or other) copy with LR adjustments, appears to run for 8-10 seconds, then PC hangs and has to be rebooted.
Yes. As I’ve mentioned in the past… It’s the “good enough” for some people outputs (mostly batchers) vs what people who know great when they see it and what they’d like to achieve for themselves with outputs (singles) that are at odds. Two different target markets.
