Thank you. I have found the last stable version that I can run.
I have not been more frustrated than this release. It works fine as a Photoshop Plugin, but when I try to open it as a standalone app, it doesn’t open. Rather, it uses up almost 40-50 GB on my M1 MacBook and I finally have to force quit it. Here’s the screenshot of the error:
Please help. I tried shutting down the MacBook and restarting it too. Doesn’t work.
For me, this is the most unstable version ever. Though it works as a Photoshop plugin, it doesn’t even open as a standalone app.
I got a similar problem and have swished back to 3. I’m going to wait for a more stable version of 4
This is not as it should be. I have an M1 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM and it opens fine as a standalone, using 318.2MB of RAM.
Either post details of your system here or send a report with logs direct to Topaz Support at their main page.
Why is it not possible to pin v1.4 to the taskbar in windows?
Yes, this happened for me so far only in every v1.3.x beta of TPAI, releases were stable, hence I thought maybe there are differences in libraries being used in beta and release versions. But I didn’t catch TPAI v1.4 on anything weird other, that this. I’ll have to test further.
I can pin it to the taskbar with no issue in Windows 10.
Text Recovery did not wor for me.
Program crashes every time i try…
What are your system specs? You can find them in the PAI Help menu to copy/paste.
Does it crash as soon as you turn the switch on? What steps lead to the crash?
I’ve given up trying Raw processing. I only work with the Ps plugin now… after mild settings adjustments to my Raw image originals in ACR.
Thank`s for your Response, but i found no System pecs to copy in the help-menue!?
Yet still some specs.
After marking text Areas and click apply, the Software crashes.
After another test, with fewer areas marked, it worked, but after changing the intensity slider it
crashes again.
Seem very Buggy yet…
Hope for the next update.
I have no much Need for this feature in the Moment.
Only „nice to have“
So don`t waste your time with my Problem.
Nevertheless best thanks

Yes. I see what you mean! There used to be a listing under the Help Menu to allow you to cut/paste your system specs into a post so the devs would know what system you’re dealing with.
I responded to you so they can learn what’s causing your crash & to see if there’s a pattern among users with similar systems. Hopefully they can now better troubleshoot what the issue is on your Win 10 system. I assume you already verified on the Topaz website that your system specs meet the Tech Requirements for the current generation of Photo AI.
If you have an ongoing issue, you may want to contact Topaz Support on the Topaz Labs main website vs in this forum. Good luck!
The upscale needs the X1 back as a choice. It now defaults to X2 and has to be changed to 1 manually. Many pictures taken with cameras are large enough but just need some enhancement.
Your actual ram speed is 2X the speed listed.
I would uninstall PAI, reboot the computer and install it again. Sometimes installing over the old version can create a problem.
Hole Lee Shittttt.
I took one of my .exr files that i exported out of Side Fx Houdini with Ocio settings and the file with .png was… and then when i said preserve file format I almost started laughing. I guess I have no choice but to denoise in Houdini. Program not ready for Creators. But it has come a long way keep working on it guys
After a full uninstall and clean new install it works, but crashed after exporting the image as dng.
Will test some other image when i have the time…
Soo… Having hopped onto this “train” back in November when I renewed my standalone apps and got PAI included as an extra I’ve been following the forum thread for each weeks release, applied the occasional update (not updating weekly) and ran a batch or two through PAI.
And - don’t know about the rest of you but either I’m a crappy photographer that only throws unfixable photos at PAI or it’s really that far from being a load, process and forget solution that Topaz Labs aspires for it to be (why an autopilot if you have to go through each photo individually?)
My photos either seems to come out to soft by the way to aggressive NR applied or oversharpened into some weird drugged up addicts vision of how reality looks because of the model applied.
Don’t get me wrong - I’ve seen some nice examples of successfully processed photos in the various threads (been a couple of updates since Black Friday) but really - how many of you can say that they have thrown a folder of shots at PAI, walked away to do other stuff while waiting and then gotten back to an output folder with nothing but great results (or at least acceptable) waiting for you?
Anyway - and sorry for the rant, had to get it out of my system - there is a question to be asked…
Falling back to the individual apps. Denoise does Sharpening, and Sharpen does NR. Which would you chose if you only wanted to run a folder through one app? Me I’m leaning towards Sharpen AI as most of my photos are daylight and not very high ISO, but how is the general difference in quality between Denoise with Sharpening and Sharpening with NR? Or is any of them equally valid?
I would never expect anything like that from an app, at least not at this moment in time. Why not expect that your camera produces those perfect pictures in the first place?
I kind of do expect precisely that about paid software that is at version 1.4 (not beta, not version 0.x but version 1.4) and sell an autopilot that is supposed to work by the way of AI - especially when the individual apps (that haven’t even received updates for some time now) actually does it better (not only according to me - I’ve seen more comments to that effect here).
So yes, I do have the expectations of being able to drop a folder and move the result into Radiant Photo (or any other software of choice) afterwards for that extra “pop” before exporting.
If not - what place does an AI based app running on autopilot have to offer in a normal workflow if you have to dial down everything to a minimum on each photo because the auto just don’t get it?
