Topaz Gigapixel v1.0.0 - v1.0.1

Interesting. Thanks for that!

I see that the 2017 iMac already has a built-in AMD Radeon Pro 570 or 575.

From what i read, you’d need a eGPU enclosure and something like a used AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 running under macOS Big Sur 11.4 through MacOS Sonoma 14 to support that GPU.

That’s a large outlay for not much benefit.

I have the same issue on a Win10 box.

Tried it, not that impressed, at least not enough to go subscription. Uninstalled and happy to stay on 8.4.4.

Batch processing in the cloud is still unreliable. I believe there is supposed to be a maximum limit of 100, but it would not accept 90. I therefore halved the number but 8 have failed to process, all randomly spread through the batch. I now have to look through the batch to check and then try to reset everything and try again. All rather time consuming.
Additionally, although all were set to use the Redefine model, they have come with the suffix [ai-filters], which is not helpful. When processed singly the suffix is “redefine-realistic”

Hi, for those who want, I’m linking my latest photos improved using Gigapixel, Hypir AI ON1 Resize 2026 and Photo AI. As usual, there is the before/after to compare

Another bug when batch processing. The files I was upscaling are numbered, all with three digits. Eight of them have upscaled with an additional zero, so file “089” is now “0890”. More work to correct this error.

This. For the type of images I almost exclusively do, none of the new features and models brings an improvement, let alone one that would justify throwing further $$$ after a company that blatantly refused to deliver what we, the customers, paid for. Nonetheless, I wish Topaz all of luck because the day they go down the drain will be the day Topaz 8.4.x will stop working due to the online license check (which Topaz once promised would never be implemented). A company that cherishes its customers would come up with a patch that enables the “owned” products to run completely offline, forever. Guess why I assume this will not happen…

after confirming that i am logged in, gigapixel 1.0.1 is stuck initializing

I could fix it: there was a bad model path in the registry:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel
some\path\Topaz Gigapixel\models
instead of the correct version
some\path\Topaz Gigapixel

Really very good pictures Harald. I’m impressed.

Hello.

It looks like manufacturers have solved the litter problem, whereas when rubbish is thrown on the ground it sprouts wings, takes off and puts itself into the nearest bin. Incredible technology. What will they think of next!!!

When you install later it depends on the activation servers still working. Also, installing is not just running the install file. It also must be able to download models from servers which may not exist in the future.

I think that all models I currently use are stored locally on my hard disk, and new ones are not going into 8.4.x, so this (hopefully) is manageable in case I have to reinstall. It would not be wise by Topaz to throw those under the bus who do not jump onto the subscription train. The negative publicity such a step would generate would be in no reasonable relation to a handful of new subscribers they may get when the “owned for lifetime” (lol) versions lose functionality because of Topaz terminating the supply of necessary files.

I also think that a Lifetime version should not be changed so that it does not run, it is simply frozen. The only thing that may happen is that at some point it no longer runs on a new OS, but actively changing the old version so that it no longer runs would be a mistake.

Well I’d even call that fraud.

I just tested the new Standard Max model. It looks very good. I have the impression that it is a mix between the best of Standard V2 and the best of Recovery V2.

Devs working on this for sure - thanks for reporting

thanks ray - will update notes to get this reviewed

I’m on Mac but I can confirm that GP does not work at all in PS and while Topaz Photo seems to work the export back to PS never finishes. I uninstalled the all the AI versions, both release and betas. That was obviously a mistake… Hopefully they will fix this soon!
Or I will simply have to reinstall the old versions.
