[Super Focus preview color shift] - Color shift on preview only, on non RAW files with certain color profiles

The image capture says it all, happens both with v1 and v2

I’ve also found this with the preview in v3.6.2 (the preview fix that came with this release breaking something else perhaps), but the actual render output was ok.

@vincent.lugnier Make sure to send in the original of their file to support@topazlabs.com and we can have a look. Make sure that the file is a case of missed focus as well as this is a stong tool meant for missed focus files or soft focus files!

@alanhusband-677420 - also make sure to send in your original file to support@topazlabs.com as well as the screenshots of the preview not matching the output and we can have a look!

After a bit more testing, i’ve discovered the problem only affects the square preview of Super Focus with wider gamut profile images (wider than sRGB).

Below is a preview of a ProPhotoRGB jpg file (notice the strange colour saturation in the preview):

But when rendering the full image the colour saturation is normal:

Below is a preview of a sRGB jpg file (the colour saturation is normal):

This suggests the small square preview is not being correctly colour-managed. This should be easily replicable.

@alanhusband-677420 - can you confirm if the behavior changes when going in Edit > Preferneces > General > Enable sRGB preview fallback?

I’ve already tried that. On or off makes no difference.

Thanks! Make sure to send the original to support@topazlabs.com and we can open a development team ticket to look into this!

I’ve sent the file I used to demonstrate the problem to support with reference to this forum thread.

Just to reiterate that the problem is only image specific in the sense that they all have wide gamut profiles:

Thanks for flagging Alan and for sending the email with your file. We have opened a development team ticket for this and will circle back here when there is a fix released for this. Thanks for flagging this!

BTW, Super Focus v1 and v2 are both affected by this preview problem.

Thanks! Will add the clarifications to the development team ticket!

The development team has pinpoint that it occurs on files that have a proRGB, Rec. 2020 and Display P3 color profiles. Doesn’t affect sRGB and Adobe RGB images and does not affect the output, only the preview.

The development team is looking into fixing this. Super Focus will not affect the colors of the output and you can go ahead an generate renders once you like the sharpened results of the preview. The processed rendered file will not have a color shift.

Will reply here once resolved!
