Bug / behavior encountered
Starlight Mini allows the render process to start, but rendering fails immediately.
The render stops with an error before producing even a single frame (0 seconds rendered).
The issue happens consistently and prevents any output. -
System profile
OS: Windows 11
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060
Driver: NVIDIA Studio Driver (latest)
RAM: Stable system, no memory pressure
Disk space: Available and sufficient
Internet connection: Stable and working normally -
Logs
Not attached yet. Logs can be provided if needed. -
Screenshots
Attached screenshot shows the render error occurring immediately after starting.
Can you send the logs to the support team at help@topazlabs.com so we can see what is going on?
If the render is failing immediately, my guess is that the model file is not being called correctly, or was not downloaded completely.
Reviewing the logs will help determine that though.
Hi, Kyle! As you requested, I’m sending the logs for you can help me with the issue.

Hello Kyle and Topaz support team!
Thank you for your reply.
First, just to clarify: I already sent a previous email with the error log you requested.
This message is a complementary explanation, after further investigation on my side, to provide a clearer technical picture of what is happening.
Here is the full situation:
-
The Starlight Mini model appears normally in the Topaz Video AI interface and can be selected.
-
However, the model does not function. Rendering never starts and the application remains stuck during initialization or processing.
-
I inspected the local installation paths in detail, especially:
C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video AI
Inside this directory, there are only:
-
JSON manifest files (KB-sized)
-
preset files
-
authentication/token files
There are NO model weights, no large folders, and no files in the hundreds of MB or GB range.
In other words, the actual Starlight Mini model does not exist on disk.
- This confirms that:
-
the Starlight Mini download never completed
-
the application UI believes the model is available
-
but the real model files were never downloaded
- There is no option in the application to force a re-download:
-
Reinstalling the application does not trigger a new download
-
Clearing AppData (Local and Roaming) does not resolve the issue
-
Restarting, logging out/in, and reinstalling multiple times has no effect
Because the model seems to be flagged internally as “available”, the downloader never runs again, leaving the application stuck with a phantom model and no recovery path exposed to the user.
At this point, I have exhausted all possible local troubleshooting steps. There is nothing left I can reset or delete on my side.
Please advise how this can be resolved from the application or server side, for example:
-
resetting the Starlight Mini model state on my account
-
forcing a re-download
-
providing a direct model download
-
or applying a patch/build that corrects this behavior
Thank you for your attention. I am available to provide any additional logs or information if needed.
Best regards,
Denis Camargo Lace
Thank you Denis, correct the model was not downloaded correctly and thus the app is not able to call it for application to the file.
Use the installer below to overwrite the current installation of the app and then download the model in this version of 7.1.0 and that should resolve this issue. We did see some issues in 7.1.4 and 7.1.5 with downloading the model for some users.
