Hi - I just upgraded to version 3.1.0 and Topaz longer recognises dng files from the Samsung app Expert Raw. It comes up with: “Cannot open file” and when click on Details it says “Image is not supported”. In the past I have always edited these files through Topaz. Is it just a bug or is this a permanent issue and no longer suypported, which I hope is not the case. I send them to Topaz through Lightroom Classic Plug-In Extras - Process with Topaz AI. Thanks
Could you send some more information so that we can better understand your problem with this particular type of image?
You can securely submit 1-3 image(s) to my Dropbox using the link below.
Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something.
Hi John - I have sent you two files via your Dropbox link. A screenshot of the Topaz message and also just a sample of a dng file that says it is not supported (which was taken through the Samsung App Expert Raw. I am not having trouble with other DNG files, only ones taken through this app. As I don’t always have my Canon camera with me I like to take RAW photos via Expert RAW.
I have also noticed that if I try an older file taken through Expert RAW it seems to work. This has only occurred since I updated the latest Topaz version.
Thanks Nancy
I get the same error. When sending a DNG from lightroom (all latest versions) that were created by my samsung S23 Ultra, I get the same exact error as above. Lightroom has no trouble w/ these images, but when I send them to Photo Ai 3.13, it won’t read them.
John - I uploaded an image to your drop box.
Thanks for that information, I have included these files for our developers to further investigate. I will be sure to reach out to you on this thread once we have any information. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve this problem for our users.
I wanted to reach back out to you with a workaround from the developers for the problem you are currently having with your Samsung S23 Ultra RAW files. It would be recommended to convert these RAW files to TIFF or another non-RAW format. If you have Lightroom Classic you could use the Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI plugin.
I will reach out to you on this thread once I have more information regarding a fix for this problem you are having. Thank you for your patience.
Hi John - OK - that did work! I chose TIFF via the method you suggested from LRC, and this did work nicely! And the results from Topaz were excellent, as usual.
Certainly hoping your team can resolve the RAW issue with this phone Topaz works great w/ my Nikon d750 NEFs, btw.
I’m using the Samsung S23 Ultra and their “Expert Raw” app v3.0.06.28. In its settings - they have “use lossless RAW” (on or off.) I believe my pics were taken with this ON. “images use more space” in this option, so basically the best quality RAW the app can do. I’ll try it w/ Topaz with Lossless OFF, to sese if it makes a difference.
Thanks.
