Roundtripped photos from Lightroom Classic to Topaz AI and back are showing as unsupported or damaged tifs in Lightroom

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. In Lightroom “edit in” Topaz AI
  2. Upscale and or sharpen in Topaz AI
  3. Send back to Lightroom
  4. showing as an unsupported or damaged tif in Lightroom.
  5. I see a previous problem like this from Oct. where they said it was just with b+w photos. I did make the b+w adjustment in Lightroom before choosing to edit in Topaz AI.

Topaz Photo AI [v1.x.x] on [Windows/Mac]

This is on a Mac running Sonoma 14.1.2

There is a known bug with Greyscale/B&W where the output file is invalid.

Our development team is looking into this and will hopefully have a fix soon.

For now here is the workaround:

  • Convert the Greyscale/B&W image to color

  • Open and edit the color image in Topaz Photo AI and output the file.

  • Convert the color image back to Greyscale/B&W

Thanks. Seems like it’s been an issue for a little while now.

Is there a fix for it or still need to work arounnd?

The person above said it was still a work around.
