When I use the program as a Lightroom plugin the returning TIFF loses the star rating. This was a problem in a previous release and was fixed, now it’s broken again.[Please describe your issue here. Try to include logs (Help → Logging) and add screenshots if necessary.]
John - thanks for your support - but let me give you some advice: those problems do make the users very unhappy! To be honest, lighting and color balance are not worth it!! Like many others the downside not being able to export raws is so much bigger - you should consider deleting version 3.00 until the problem is solved. I am just about to download version 2.4 again (is it 10GB or so?) - nothing you want to do being away in a hotel room…
Hi,
Up until version 3 my files always saved as dng files, now they are saving/exporting as tiff files, have I missed something or doing something wrong.
From Topaz concerning TIFFs instead of DNGs:
"We are aware of this behavior with the new update.
I have talked with some of the developers and learned that this change has allowed Adjust Lighting and Balance Color to be used with RAW files.
Currently, you can either process RAW files using Photo AI v3.0.0 as a stand-alone application to output DNGs or you can revert to Photo AI v2.4.2 to enable this option for the Lightroom Classic
The devs are working to enable the plugin for Lightroom to return a DNG normally in future updates and have the TIFF output only be used if Adjust Lighting or Balance Color is used."
Same here: from Lightroom, TPAI messes up the colors and exports only TIFF. This update is complete garbage, I regret renewing my license for this update.
Thanks for the reply, John. Version 3.00 has been a huge disappointment because I require DNG for my workflow. Such a significant change should have been clearly stated in the release notes. Instead, the preferences screen remains unchanged (export as DNG), yet it instead exports a clearly suboptimal TIFF instead. Although I made zero changes to my photo before using the plug-in, the TIFF that was returned dramatically altered the lighting, resulting in highlights completely blown out. Moreover the denoise and sharpening are not improved and seem, in fact, to have also regressed in this release. I will revert to 2.4.2 until it’s abundantly clear that the software works as it should.
I reinstalled 2.4.2 because 3.0.0 was incapable of producing a DNG file while in LRC. I am working on CR3 raw files from Canon R5. For some reason unknown to me the DNG or the TIFF produced is noticeably darker than the original RAW image. It makes no difference if I’m trying to produce a DNG from a TIFF - same result. prior to today, I was running 2.3.1 and never had a problem other than that iteration was very slow. I then loaded 3.0.0 and had that on less than a day before I discovered it would not produce a DNG in LRC. So, now I am running 2.4.2 and experiencing the darker images. I should say that with 3.0.0, the images produced were also dark. Have any of you encountered the darker images?
I normally generate two images from a RAW file - a DNG and a TIFF. Since I cannot generate a DNG from my RAW file in Photo AI 3.0.0, what can I do and what workflow would I use now? What is an approximate time line until they get the DNG issue resolved?
RAW files sent to Topaz Ai will be recognized by Topaz however, the resulting TFF will not be written to the hard drive. This is confirmed when searching the drive in the OS. Synchronizing the folder within Capture One or LRC reveals no files. Previous versions allowed return file to be DNG not TIFF.
Steps to reproduce issue:
Select RAW file and process in Topaz Ai
Make adjustments in Topaz
Save file back to source

Topaz Photo AI V 3
Description:
I am encountering an issue with the export function in Photo AI Version 3 from TopazLabs. When I send a photo from Adobe Bridge using the “Open” function, the output file is always in TIFF format. In the previous version 2.4.x, it was possible to receive the output in DNG format. Despite selecting DNG in the export settings for Version 3, the software continues to produce TIFF files only. This seems to be a deviation from the expected functionality based on the settings available.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open Adobe Bridge and select a photo.
Use the “Open” function to send the photo to Photo AI.
Set the export settings in Photo AI to output in DNG format.
Complete the editing process and export the photo.
Expected Result:
The photo should be exported in DNG format as per the settings.
Actual Result:
The exported file is in TIFF format, regardless of the selection in the export settings.

-Previous versions to version 3 enable the user to choose the export format. In preferences there is no choice - simply DNG but despite preferences saying DNG, exported photos are saved as TIFFs
